BBC News - India's Ambani hosts party for 'world's priciest home'

The building cost about USD 1 Billion :S

Wonder who the architect was. Looks like it will topple down all over the place if an earthquake comes.

First electricity bill was of 70 lacs. Heck I don't mind if it was a crore since its his money. No matter what angle you look at it from it looks like an eyesore. Dark and bleak and broken, no symmetry anywhere. Ugh. :S

What would you do if you had that kind of money?

I wouldn't build something that ugly. Most probably i would have kicked the guy who bought me such a design in the first place.

Top-selling Indian novelist Shobhaa De, who attended the party, called the building "the Taj Mahal of the 21st century".

That woman is a fool. The Taj is billion/ thrillions time more wonderful than this ugly piece of labor. She is as always far away from reality when uttering or writing nonsense i guess.

Common isnt it obvious ,she couldn't say it was crap .How can you say ,"your home is crap " when you have be invited to that home :D .

PS:That building is surely ugly .

With that kind off money , I would have lots of space horizontally with lots of tress around . :) .

Reading you post I realize that I am not the only fool who think this way, U accompany me..

What ever I would had done with that much money, atleast wouldnt had created such horribly designed stuff..

Maybe this is Mukesh's way of saying "Oye- tata/birla and Anil. Now do this!!!" :P

Saying this is the Taj of the modern age is retarded. Some people have some weird fantasies that they incorporate in their apartments/houses. If you look at the building, it surely looks like a tetris game gone wrong.

dont know what he was thinking before approving the building design.
Focussing on his business expansions for funding a few more such houses, unlike the junior who in all likelihood would have been out jogging :D

I saw antilla a few days ago. Was at 12 midnight I think.

Around a couple of kms away, me and my friend were laughing and calling mukesh an idiot.

When was finally close enough to see, we were amazed by the material he has used. Its not as bad guys. The open terrace with those 2 light globes look amazing at night.

But then before anyone starts to grill me for saying what I said, I did see it at night...

I had heard a lot about this building before, but when I first saw it in newspaper yesterday, was shocked to see how terrible it looked. With that kind of money, someone could make a design 100 times better, without a doubt. Look at the kind of architecture they make in Dubai for example.

I think whatever this building might be, he could have made a grand mansion, or something on or below the sea.

It's a contemporary design.. Personally I'm not a big fan but it doesn't seem to work considering the % space utilisation he's benefited from, using that design.

A little more symmetry would've certainly helped though!

I like the building..... its modern.. new and something not any her man can make... considering each floor has a diff structure and material used.. everything fits in perfectly... I doubt anyone can build this in India and any other part of the world... hats off to Ambani... and yes the 70 LAC electricity bill... i dont approve

Heh beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I'm not a fan of its looks but I do have to agree that it looks like the only building of its kind probably in the world! Its instantly recognizable and that is all that the owner wants mebbe :P.

Building looks fugly but no one has seen it from inside.. There should be a grand mansion inside it ;)

Or a lot less too :D

it looks great from architectural point of view , symmetry is so passe guys , the interplay of the vertical and horizontal planes is very interesting , my junior worked on the design at perkins & wills architect offices and says theres lots more happening inside than we would ever get to know from the outside
