Ants n Keyboard II

Yes the ants are attacking my computer again. If u remember last time i posted a similar thread in hardware section. This time they seem to be in love with my Logitech keyboard. seems like they have made it their home or storehouse. Now and then a rail of ants are going in and out. Its highly irritating and also i usually band the keyboard upside down along the egdes to get those pesty ants out. :@

Well last time i bought some ants powder to get rid of them but i cant use them on the keyboard :(

any solutions

Using an IBM keyboard and no ants here, so maybe you should switch brands ;)

If in future I get a Logitech one will test for ants and let you know :ohyeah:

ya calling all logitech keyboard owners .. do you see a trail of ants coming and going from your keyboard

i just sprayed my table and the area around it so cant take any pics to show my predicament :(

Using an IBM keyboard

I too have an IBM keyboard - the one which makes the clickity clack sounds when the keys are pressed. I think this is the best keyboard I have ever used - but since some time now the Page Up key seems to be stuck and I have tried using it with this key totally removed but no luck - still stuck. Do you have this same type of IBM keyboard ? Any ideas about how to sort this problem ?

it could be due to food particles which you will find in practically all the keyboards of an average pc user.

or it could be due to the cool, dark, crevices inside the keyboard where the "queen" might be nesting....

anyways the best would be to remove all the screws from underneath the keyboard. disassemble the keyboard and then clean all the parts under running water. (except the plastic sheets where the traces are located which can be cleaned with a moist cloth)
dry it throughly and reassemble.

infact this is the best method to clean a keyboard.

and no there is nothing inside a modern keyboard which can be "spoilt" by water. (except the plastic sheets where the traces are marked) if you dry it adequately then there should be no problem.

well, using a logitec KB on my second rig, no problems like these for me, maybe ur spilling some of the sweet stuff you guys are eating while typing :P

no food near my keyboard.. actually no food allowed inside my room :P

for me they dont go inside the keyboard. all gather underneath it.. cant figure out whats so fascinating about the back of my keyboard :S maybe they like the dark as deejay suggested.

now i know why a bloody rat was inside my cabinet for like 2-3 days, thank god it didnt do any damage, hehe..

Well i have done that on my old mechanical keys keyboard but these are not the same and i tried opening it up but one side was too tight to open so left it
