I was looking for a multi-channel gaming/movie headphone a few months ago and bought a Razer HP-1 headphone. But I was bummed by the lack of bass -just skull shaking vibration in its place. I didn't particularly notice this in games but the lack of bass was evident in movies and mid-night music listening sessions. As if this weren't bad enough, the left front speaker died soon. So I returned the headphones and got my money back.

Now I am on the lookout for a multi-channel headphones again. This time I want a headphone with good stereo qualities, good bass, good "directionality" and good reliability.

If anybody has heard of a headphone with these qualities, please let me know.

Perhaps such a thing doesn't exist, in which case I will keep using my backup headphones(Philips SHP805). As far as I can google, all the 5.1 headphones have only skull-vibrators in place of an actual sub-woofer.

The main reason I want a 5.1 headphones is to enjoy all the HD and some 5.1 dvdrips I "have". The other minor reason is : manually switching from stereo to 5.1 channel in the control panel when switching from my z5500 to headphones.

5.1 headphones are a joke seriously , there are some good ones but with the amount at which they are available...not worth at all .

And i would say the barracuda was a really bad choice...they r just tagged as gaming headset , they were the worst value for money headphones i have ever tested , if u had that much budget u could hav easily got a grado sr 60 or an AD700 . In case u havent owned them, i seriously suggest u to get the AD700.....not so much bass..but if u want great soundstage and positional audio for games , sound quality/clarity for music , and great enough for movies too ...get the AD700........the best value for money entry level audiophile headphones , if ur budget is a bit on the lower side..get the Grados SR 60

^If upgrading now means upgrading to another stereo headphone pair, I might as well hold off the upgrade for some time, thank you.

Hopefully, some company will realize the "patheticness" of the rumble/vibrations in place of true bass and release a 5.1 heaphone that is any good. Perhaps, I might even hold off my heaphone upgrade till then.

Any more inputs?
