I just want to know if anyone has tried this before. I'm thinking of buying a Sparkle GTX 460 1 GB, and since am also going to do with a Core i7 makeover soon, I was pondering over buying two cards for SLI later. However, the Core i7 upgrade might be in Nov (after I see Sandy Bridge), so has anyone tried SLIing on one of the P35 mobos and the ASUS P5K Deluxe in particular? I'm not sure if this is possible, since it's not officially stated, but I want to know, else I can just buy one card for now.

Let me know ASAP. Purchase imminent...

Don't think it is possible due to the chipset limitation. I had a P5K Dlx with an 8800GTX close to 3 years back but did not bother pairing another card with it.

About time you upgraded that system already. :P

Bad idea. Really! Like you already mentioned in another thread, the HD6xxx series is due by then.

Thanks Gannu,
BTW isn't my sys just a bit faster than yours :P ? Yea, too true though, I was bothering over whether to go for P55 or X58 and kept postponing things. Also PC was on the backburner after several other expenditures. Will wait for Sandy Bridge, current prices are too shitty, Intel is milking the market, I would want something like an i7 970/960, but for around 350~400$. Would also want a less power hungry chip than the X58 mobos have and am waiting for native USB 3/SATA 3 support...
BTW my calculations put the GTX 460 @ 5~10% faster than my current GTX 285. Is this correct? Are there any other reviews other than Anandtech's one I should be looking at?

Ummm going by our respective signatures, I think my system should be a couple of notches faster than yours. :P :D

But honestly, AMD is the way to go ATM. Their hexa-core 1055T is so VFM right now and a good motherboard which supports USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 does not cost a bomb! Under 25k you have an awesome CPU + motherboard and 4 gigs of RAM. :D

Lol, really? An E8400 VS a Q9650? And a 4870 VS a GTX 285? You've got your work cut out for ya. Don't go by the old sig :P
AMDs 6 cores run hotter than what I'd like in my rig. Besides, am after a fast quad core, rather than a six core. Waiting for Intel's 32nm quads (if they arrive). I want something I won't touch for 2-3 years. Am willing to dole out up to 45K for all 3 - CPU, mobo, RAM, but nothing available that I like.

^ how about an i7 875k for 17.5k with unlocked multiplier + decent P55 ? . u can sli gtx 460 on it also ..

P35 have second pci-e slot @ 4x so even if sli works it will be bottlenecked so no point .
