Okay Guys a lil update first.

Friend wants good touchscreen fone with android feel.... The old story.

Catch: Must play games like fruit Ninja/Angry birds/car racing games in 15k budget.

Goes to shop and purchases the Wildfire cuz didn liked LG Optimus One P500.

I just tried those games on Wildfire running 2.1 Android Eclair and the experience was horrible. Fruit Ninja played in slow mo and Angry bird failed to show up beyond blue screens.

( Tip: Lock the screen and unlock it again. It ll play Angry Birds. But it was lagging nevertheless. )

Now,

Anybody experienced the Wildfire updated to 2.2 ?

Asking because i am hugely optimistic of running those games on Wildfire. (as 2.2 Froyo has better java compiler)

Have heard Optimus P500 running the Angry bird smoothly. Counting on the fone to play Fruit Ninja as well.

I dont think LG optimus One P500 has a separate GPU and surely neither does Wildfire. But Is that due to the froyo upgrade ?

Asking cuz i am supposed to make this game run on wildfire or it ll be exchanged for LG Optimus One first thing in the morning.

Ofc with nominal 'processing fee'.

Dreading the upgrade to 2.2 for obvious reason that i mite return this fone back. Secondly no confirmation abt the better running of games on Wildfire + 2.2 froyo.

Any leads guys ?

Yep. Found that after an intense reading session from amongst various sites.

Btw,

Both LG Optimus One P500 and DELL XCD35 Aka ZTE BLADE are able to run games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja and the likes smoothly ?

Tilting towards a swap with DELL as it has a bigger screen and a seemingly revised proccy. But no divx support is a dampener.

both Optimus One and XCD35 has the same proccy but Optimus has 512MB ram while the XCD has 256MB and also less battery capacity. screen res is the only plus point of XCD35

Angry Birds works perfectly fine on my HTC Legend, I'm on Froyo and I moved the game to the SD card and no lag at all. I think both the Legend and the Wildfire have almost the same hardware except the display and the resolution, so maybe it would run fine on the wildfire with froyo too.

Try these..

1 Move the game to the SD card.

2 Try the Angry Birds Lite version.

To be honest apart from the screen, Wildfire is a pretty decent phone.

I liked it, friend is loving it (his first Touchscreen experience, enriched with Android OS)

Unless you go about placing the wildfire next to a superior phone (the screen reality starts pinching), its a decent purchase for 13k.

It has a decent build quality, does its intended job and 5MP cam clicks the pics you would want from a good cam with flash.

Games ofc wont run smoothly (fruit ninja was lazy all the time ) but then in sub 15k you dont get the world, do you ?

I played a vid i downloaded from Utube, the Nolan cheddar cheese and it was watchable and if that's the intention (of watching the odd clips only) i think HTC wont trouble my friend a lot.

He is still fiddling with it day in and day out and hasnt blamed me. He disliked LG for its design (which i too loathed)

The camera of HTC made us consider it because for some, camera has to be of a certain level.

HTC Wildfire was easy to set up and after initial 'burn in' period (you accept the lack of gaming) it was more likeable.

Battery backup was a bit letdown but i heard it improves once you get 2.2 on it. Looking fwd to it.

I would give the phone a solid 3.5/5

To drop more hints for you, the friend is not tech/gadget savvy at all and had been using phones like Nokia E71 types.
