PC Peripherals Any Dell 2407WFP owner here? Need some advise

Adept
i currently own the dell 2405... but it's now out of production and replaced by the 2407... i'm thinking of picking up another 24" lcd (the price is pretty attractive now at 40k shipped), but i've heard that there were some banding issues with the 2407...

can anyone here confirm if the recent or current batches of 2407 lcds still suffer from this banding issue? if not, i'm gonna put in an order for it.

I got my 2407WFP Rev A03 bout a week ago, connected my ps2 to the component, tried the composite video, played some movies and did not see any banding. The only thing is since this is my first 24" I do not know if it is normal for it to get a so hot.

The latest revision A03 is said to be free of banding in desktop mode. But i'm not sure that they've started shipping A03s here yet, but as pichingo says that he has received an A03 just a weak ago, they must've started shipping A03 now.

Edit: BTW i've written a short review on my A02 in the reviews section.

nice.. looks like they are shipping AO3 units now...

@Google, too bad we can't return our A02s.. but on the bright side, i hv no complaints abt mine so far ;)

You will not see banding only if you set the monitor to desktop mode on the 2407, as this turns off the Faroudja post-processing. This is unavoidable due to the scaler chip used in the 2407 ( Oak
FLI5962/61/21).

Switching it to any of the other modes (multimedia/game etc.) will show banding as panel overdrive acceleration is enabled in these modes.

going OT here again, but is heating an issue with this panel?? Pichingo says his panel gets hot, and I've noticed the samsung 244t also heats a lot? Is this characteristic to all 24" panels?

Maybe chaos can comment on whether this is harmful to the panel or adversely affects life...

Yeah the panels do heat up... same with my dell 2005. Nothing much u can do about it other than turn on the ceiling fan .

Even my vx924 is quite warm...
It bothered me a bit at the start but nw I dont bother abt it much....Maybe thats the way it is...
