Compwarehouse B'lore seems to have placed M-audio StudioPro3 and DX-5A(I guess it's BX-5A) on their pricelist. They are exhorbitantly priced v/s the dollar pricing as seen on M-AUDIO.

Has anyone used the StudioPro3 speakers? Any idea on how they sound?

1 possible problem I see with these speakers is that they have RCA inputs in back(but 1 stereo receptor is there in front). Hope they provide cables to interface with a PC stereo o/p.

sydras, these are reference monitors... bad idea buying these for music, good idea if you're a musician and need a pair of monitors for recording/playback.

Well, for the price of the BX5a, you will have increased your options to many other brands...

Even M-Audio speakers are not adviced for Studio Use. You can't get the Bass in Prof. speakers unless you buy a subwoofer.

I don't understand. If musicians use these speakers, why won't they be good for the rest of us? I also wonder why compwarehouse is marketing such speakers for the consumer.

No bass has got me worried. I know what you're saying. I took a demo of RTi4 bookshelves at ProFX on MG Road. The speakers are so highly tuned that the base is almost non existent even though these were bookshelves. i.e. a sub is needed in high end audio. Better to buy a sony/philips deck :P

BX5a is not for my budget. No way I'm dropping that kind of cash for a pair of speakers I haven't checked out.

Check out Vector on brigade road (opp. catholic club rear entrance) for the Wharfedale Diamond 8.1/9.0 (~9.5k) and get a Norge 50W amplifier (~6k) - demo the speakers/amp and decide whether they're worth it.

It's all because of the Frequency Response. They are professional active monitors, those never color or boost your sound.(like your EAX, Crystalizer/ CMSS).

And the Frequency response of BX5a is : 56Hz - 20kHz. Even it's not flat. You can't even feel the bass below 100hz if you are not using a subwoofer. (Note: All your Home speakers having subwoofers).

Yes, you can use prof. speakers for home music, if you are ready to buy a subwoofer with 2 active monitors. If you are ready to spend some 30k, I recomend you to buy Yamaha HS50 Studio Monitor Package with HS10 Subwoofer.

HS10W is: 30 Hz - 180 Hz
HS50 is: 55 Hz—20 kHz

And don't worry, we don't create music less than 40hz and greater than 18Hz. So you can feel the bass & treble.

But my final advice, don't waste your money over this speakers unless you have a prof. sound card like E-Mu or M-Audio...(Yes, your X-FI can't provide balanced o/p).

Buy Logitech Speakers!!!

Wrong... you don't need subwoofers for producing bass. Any speaker with decent bass extension is good enough. Most entry level floorstanders produce upto 40Hz or so quite decently. Infact any decent pair of bookshelves like dynaudio audience 52/cadence avita can go down into the 50Hz range.

Yamaha speakers are total garbage. You can get way way better stuff than yammy.

LOL an amp with balanced inputs which is resolving enough will cost atleast a lac. balanced is not a necessity for playback. It definitely is a necessity for recording. Entry lvl EMU and M-Audio doesn't have balanced I/O either.

Buy Logitech Speakers!!!

Ultra lame advice again.

sydras check out wharfies and monitor audio too if you can , you might find them to your liking

I agree with DynAudio, yes only with dynaudio. Do you know the price factor for Dynaudio's entry level? This guy don't even think about that!!! DynAudio is not for home use man. But it's not true with yamaha, Alesis, behringer or even M-Audio speakers.

Yamaha speakers are total garbage. You can get way way better stuff than yammy.

Have you ever used them, Even NS10! Do you know what materials used in Yamaha speakers and M-Audio speakers? Do you know what the hell, they stopped producing the world's best selling NS10 Speakers?

Do you think, all the prof. studio people in the world are MAD then?

balanced is not a necessity for playback.

Agreed, only if your speaker has RF Proof and you are not placed them too long.

As my exp. +4Bbu is better than -10dBv with my Yamaha HS80 & KRK(May be only for my stupid ears!!!). But nowadays unbalanced are 100% ok against RF problem, except some Behringer speakers.

Entry lvl EMU and M-Audio doesn't have balanced I/O either.

Is M-Audio 192 pro in your world?

Ultra lame advice again.

If you can, help people!!! Or justify your answers. Are you saying creative is better than Logitech? Nice, Say like that. Not just blame others, Stupid!!! Anyway guys, I am logging out from this forum, Will meet you guys in any other good forum...

The thing is bottle, I'm looking for some decent 2.0 PC speakers. I'm not too sure about Wharfdales replacing my PC speakers. I don't have the space to fit in a 50W amplifier. I'm already fed up with 2 CPU boxes and a subwoofer in my room. I just want to reduce the clutter :).

oh ok .. then i guess active monitors are your best bet . try looking at tannoy etc and good luck

Where are you from? There's a pro-audio show in goregaon from 7th to 9th. Will have all the brands like Mackie, Genelec, Tannoy, Tapco, Behringer, Yamaha etc.

From B'lore. So can't attend :( . Lemme know if there's gonna be something like that in B'lore. Sounds really good...all those brands under one roof.

There was a show in Bangalore a few months ago so I don't think there'd be anything in the near future.
