I've used QQ - it's like a protected playground for children. Ordinary Chinese don't have a lot of exposure to foreigners and so the CCP has allowed foreign teachers in - the students say things that Indians with more exposure normally would not say. (that does not make us any less racist) Also the children hang out with the adults - we have no concept of national service but on QQ it's kind off visible (partly because Chinese adults can't go anywhere else on the web, so they tend to hang out together with the kids) .. your 'duty' could well involve sitting in chat and keeping an eye on what goes on. Additionally the Chinese are pretty clanish but we foreigners get to see that outside China.. within QQ where everyone is Chinese I did not observe that defensive posturing. Of course everything is in Chinese.
Can you name just one Indian board that is similar: school going kids to married adults all in one place - talking about their daily lives? (think of QQ as Yahoo Messenger with bells and whistles and a chinese graphics library/api - not Qt/GTK)
Then there is TaoBao which is just a search front-end for factory-agents. Again, can you name a single Indian equivalent? It's not that hard to do.. why don't our traders unite amongst themselves and create a text/sms order service? It takes a sense of unity and common thinking to reduce conflict and get work done.
Mindlessly blaming the CCP of spying - you may be right but no one's going to give you credit for being correct. Expose your thinking - that way we know it's not jealousy or selfishness driving your engine.
As for spying yeah I think from personal experience of the large number of IPs my QQ client was generating - they do that and more. What do you suppose GMail is - "free" email? Reddit is run by Conde Naste - they used to send "free" magazines to Indians for 1-year and all the Indian boards on Reddit are designed to spread hate among Indians!
I'll happily accept Chinese spying vs deliberate spreading of hate and division by Reddit! (spying is a method of learning and in itself not harmful)
