Hey Guys,

As some of you might know i am into furniture business. Now a prospective customer is looking forward in buying some furniture from me for his house in Long Island, New York. The problem is that he wants me to handle all logistics.

From hiring the container, shipping and unpacking of the material at his end that is in Long Island. I have sent material outside India earlier also but that was in UK and the customer was shifting so he himself hired the container and shipped my furniture along with the one existing in his house across himself. This is a new one for me.

Anybody here who has any idea what all needs to be in place to do this. I know asking this on a Tech forum with majority of the teenagers around looks foolish but you never know :).

TIA

yea theres one exporter here ...lemme see if he can message u ...what kind of furniture business are you in /

Manufacturing and Retailing. We do all kinds of furniture. Be it Residential, Office or Institutional. We have a decent sized manufacturing unit here in Noida as well as a store where we keep our ready to pick products on display. We also deal in few reputed brands like Zuari, Nitraa, My-Space to name a few.

where in noida? i'm at patparganj, delhi.
i've a friend who is in export business for raw leather goods. will ask him out if he can be useful.

^ how can u manage unpacking at his end ie newyork. all the others is very much possible. but do u have a container load of furniture that is to be sent ? if not then u might need to make pallets and send it in them. also pls opt for a better shipping company at the end of the day they all cost the same, atleast when u import it ends up costing the same for us, so i assume the same is for exports also. also check for the local clearing at newyork charges after the containers lands in are very high at times. also consider how far is the actual destination from the port as if the distance is much u might end up paying damrage (as transit time can be high)on the containers which is pretty high.

I used to know a guy who used to take shipments from India to the USA without much hassles on door delivery basis. unpacking there seems the hard part. But maybe he can help you with that as well. I can find out about him if you want ...

Edit: Try Rajdhani Air Express on Vikas Marg, Laxmi Nagar. Ask for Mr. Vinod Mishra or a Mr. Dang. We used to deal with Vinod Mishra and he's a very resourceful guy. I will try to find his number but I cant be sure since we haven't used his services in the last few years.
