The places I'd like to add are "Pabbas Ice Cream" and another one that no one has mentioned ..."Cherry Square"...try it out...its a pretty cool eatery/hangout place...its in the same compound of "Queens Beauty Parlour". They have one of the best Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream. Its listed on the menu as "Some like it hot"
In terms of restaurants...try out "Madhuvan's Village"....love the decor of place....based off the Village theme.
For Pubs...try "liquid Lounge"....there may be other better ones...but thats the only one I have been to.

you can try Ideal Ice cream parlor,Market Road.One of teh oldest and most popular ice cream parlour in the city.Famous for Gad-bud?
Just outside the city you have Pilikula Nisargadama,nice place to visit during evenings and go for a boat ride.
If you have a bike, ride all the way to the airport and back.Actually, there is an old empty hangar-like structure,from there you can see planes take off and land.(If u get too close to compound,guards will send you back)

Had been to Ideal...will have look at the other ones
go to kasaragode(kerala) where there is Bekkal Forts -famous tourist centre.chandragiri puzha and more go to udupi for Sri Krishna Temple(I dont know whether pattars there will allow you to enter! ) -all destins below 60Kms. ah! Kuntapuram -Kollur Mookambika temple
and ofcourse ,in the east there is madikeri ,kodagu (hill resort).
