In general, amex cards:

1. Have higher fee than others.

2. Based on your credit score.

3. I think lesser banks offer amex when compared to visa or MC.

4. More than visa or MC.

5. You decide from the above.

One thing I know is Amex is not accepted everywhere atleast in Restaurants/Petrol Pumps. I have been a victim of this several time and ended up paying for food and petrol money on behalf of my friend

Also Amex is just a Status Symbol and not a practical CC

I love Amex

Sorry I don't agree

I have found Amex being better in a lot of ways :

Online options are better

International online shopping is easier when I travel to Europe no vbv or mcs issues and declines

Petrol pumps accept Amex

I have been using Amex for fuel for many years India and abroad

Store or retail chains run Amex promos 5% off across major cities

And it's nice to have an Amex card

Expensive dining joints and luxury hotels take Amex with a smile

Have all three and the points from the Amex are the highest. Also the number of shops/places you can use them is the lowest. But yes, the points are good and the service is exceptional as compared to any bank credit card services. People are extremely helpful and well behaved and they always put in effort to make sure they can solve your query.

If you travel a lot internationally AMEX is your best bet if your card is ever lost or stolen. 24h replacement generally free of cost and no liability on transactions done since lost or stolen. Also online security is highest with Amex and its definately a status symbol especially with the Charge Card (no preset limit). Acceptability is quite limited but most quality establishments accept it. Rewards are phenomenal and service is too good. If you are lucky to enough to be eligible for the gold card or above, the cocierge service can get you into the hottest events in your city, the kind where tickets are always out or the events are 'Invitation only.'
