Hi,

Offcourse this is a Technical forum.. but still out of excitment I want to ask this question...

Basically I'm planning to buy a car..

1st Imposition - It should be a HATCHBACK CAR
2nd Imposition - It should be good in performance as well as Mileage.... Kind of Trade off between this two factors.

So I short listed my self to getting a premium hatchback car.... which includes.. the new blazing SKODA Fabia and its competitors FORD Fusion n MARUTI Swift ZXI

Since Price is not that bug deal unless it falls in and under 8lakhs

Swift quite common now so.. I draged a line on it, Fusion seems quite good and is luxuries, but then the brand name SKODA comes into the pictures

I thought of going for Fabia Ambiente Diesel Variant.

So the real question is " does any one knows approx mileage this Diesel Variant gives...

Over net n google people say about 20 in city and 22 in long rides...

But still for surity any one owns a fabia over here could help me ?

Thanks.

skoda fabia has a sad engine.. for good performance and mileage i guess swift diesel would be an option

Try Swift Dzire, awesome car... Recently i got a test drive. No idea about Mileage but its very well for City drive. Maybe that's your Hatchback Car.. :yeah:

Stay away from the Fabia, its a crime to spend 8L for a hackback.Ok considering the equipment it offers, its by far the best hatch in India. But I still suggest you don't look at it.The maintainance is high and since its a TDI maintainance will be even higher.

The Suzuki Dzire has a 6 months waiting period. It is a good car, but it still houses the same 1.3L engine from the Swift which has been slightly re-engineered to give a bit more low end torque.

I'd suggest the Suzuki Swift or Hyundai Getz prime.Or if you can wait a while Honda will be launching their new hatch back called Jazz in a few months in India.

certainly NOT!!!! As long as you are getting a good hatchback though ...

The fabia Diesel unfortunately has a pretty sad engine which is beaten hands down by the Swift's Diesel powertrain in every possible way

Having said that, the build quality, interiors and feel of the Fabia are far better than the swift...

The sad engine is deal breaker IMHO though

Have you tried your hands on Hyundai Getz CRDI ?? It's another very good contender while picking a premium diesel hatchback..

Performance wise Getz is Far too much superior and fun-to-drive car, however you'll also get a very good service backup of Hyundai which is otherwise not available in Skoda's case. Moreover, Fabia's idling engine noise is too much..

Maruti Swift diesel is not doubt a very good but the only problem is it starts developing rattles after a month usage only...

Last but not the least... better to be on team-bhp for any type of car queries

Cheers

Ok.. heres what I'd experienced....

I went for a test drive of Fabia...

I gave it a self.... and Pop went my bubble... The noise was more compared to swift or getz or indica... but as you drive for 2 - 3 mins.... it apparently settles to the level of Swift n other HATCH BACK...

BINGO my PAL....Well this fact is supported by two of my college mates plus by a resident residing in my building

For the morons who are suggesting Accent, Vedia ( I assume Cedia) n Swift D'sire... Common guys.. Stop sucking the milk and grow up.. I'd asked for HATCHBACK n not SEDAN...

Agreed the maintainance will be high after all its a TDI engine brought to us by brand name "Volkswagen Group" and its from SKODA n not from FIAT / MARUTI

Hundai's Getz prime was certainly one of the option but its low power engine makes it out from the competition, Certainly "IF" given an strict option between Getz Prime and Getz... I would Pick up Getz Blindly.. but that's the question of If and But.

Watch your language dude.

Ohh... I'm at my honest, to be sorry If I personally hurted you or any one in this post... My Bad

But for records, morron = idiot (Which has been used by many of the members in this forum); "Sucking the Milk" - thats a quite common phrase for "Dood pitte bache". I hear this a lot from my mentors and college professors when I inevitably make a silly mistake.

But still I honestly apologize for my bad.

dude the getz CRDI is *the* most powerful hatch you can buy!

eh, why not ? what's wrong with the palio 1.6? it can leave any hatch, Except maybe the above mentioned Getz in the dust....

You seem to have a few prejudices. Please state them first , instead of flaming those who are against your POV

Getz CRDI is equipped with 4 Cylinder, 1493 CC, Maximum Power (ps) 110

Fabia TDI is equipped with 3 cylinder, 1198 CC, Maximum Power (ps) 70

Throw in a after market tuning box in the hood and you'll make some serious German cars to hide in a corner :cool2:

You call it low power engine, i call it the meanest engine in the league... :)

Cheers
