Car & Bike Apache 160 - Back pain issue

Hey,
I have recently bought apache RTR 160. I have an issue with bike handle, it gives me back ache when I go for long drives. Please suggest if any alteration for the handle is available to straighten the seating posture or which can reduce the pressure on shoulders. Thanks in advance.
 
You can adjust the angle of the handle, or swap them for other handles which may suit you better. Check with any local mechanic, its a easy few minutes job.
 
These bikes are for short distances, for long distance you need a commuter bike, if you done impressing then better think of your health or get ready for serious consequences.
 
Google the commuter bikes section, they lot cheaper, better mileage & very comfortable.

I travel an average of 15000 kms per year for work & I had Splendor before & HF Deluxe now which is for 51k & gives me 70kmpl if I ride below 50kmph.

I had a slip disc 2 times & train / car travel was very risky, bike is too but i had to choose the lesser devil. It has good suspension plus eastern express highway is not bad.
 
OP, check your seating posture. you should not get a lot of back pain with correct seating posture.
 
How tall are you ?

I have the same ride, and i have felt no such back pain. I cant say i drive long stretches but i did do 75 Kms few times.
 
for long distance you need a commuter bike
I really doubt that.
I have been driving a Dream Yuga. Am 5'8 and driving the bike for 2 years almost and I have been feeling the back pain in recent weeks
My driving distance has reduced from 30 kms to 15 kms a day,
But I meet a bumpy patch of 500 mtrs with lot of pits on the way which has been the sole reason of the pain
As far as I noticed, Monday's are the difficult days after a relaxing weekend.
Probably OP must be having a routine of too much sitting and less exercise.

Back stiffness is the problem. A little bit of "back movement" at traffic signals helps me.
I think I should hit an exercise routine

most of the time it is person's driving posture for issues during less then 100kms riding and also road condition + persons general fitness. for very longs rides, bike matters.
 
Even I used to get really bad backaches driving my friends Apache. Even a half hour drive would be enough to give me backaches. I believe it is a posture thing with the Apache.
 
Due to sporty seating condition (Lean Forward) - These Bike are not suitable for Commuting during Heavy Traffic snarl. As other suggested try to replace the handle, but you may loose Warranty (if their any).

All you need (before selling the Bike) to correct / match your seating position with your Bike - Also you need to increase upper body strength (Shoulder muscle / Bi shape / Tri shape area) - For that you can join gym or buy some dumb bell for workout @ Home.

I'm gone through the same situation when I bought CBR250 four years ago after commuting 11 years on a hero honda bike.....I barely able to ride that 10-15 mins and my body gave up. In that bike modification was strict no no.- hence I need to shape up my body as well adjust the seating posture. Any how after loosing some weight as well 'home dumb belling' I can ride that bike constant 4+ hours without any break. To be Frank - That bike also able to put a permanent stop on my uncontrollable increment Guts & Abdominal area.

So If you able tame your Apache - you will be always be in good shape - Check out any R15 Riders.
 
Apache and pulser riding posture are not top notch! apache has poor seating comfort. As the above comments go for commuting bike. bajaj discover,HH spled, honda shine etc...
 
Pulsar and RTR are good bikes and with a little customisation it can work well for long distances if you're having backaches due to uncomfortable posture while riding them. Custom handle bars, lower saddle with back support etc can help in this problem.

You need to take your bike to some renowned customisation shop and be careful not to overpay them as they can rip you off.

But in the end cruiser bikes are best suited for long rides, Avenger for example.

wont a car be better for back than a bike as you get a seat with support in car? why was car travel risky ?
 
Like I already said, I had to choose the LESSER DEVIL & have already crossed 50k kms.

Just few weeks back one of my best friend had slip disk as he was a frequent car traveler, he had to POO & PEE on the bed for 2 weeks just like I did when I was suffering, he only could get-up last week :(

Believe me, the pain is so unbearable, I still get goose bumps even if I think of those days :(

but car is lesser evil na ? even i have suffered from back pain and so am upgrading to car from bike for comfort. what should i do ?
 
car takes more time in traffic compared to bike, I do not own a car but I traveled few weeks with my colleague to office in his car & had to quit.

your physical condition may be different than mine but it does not happen over night too.
 
I had recurring back pain issues so instead of popping those painkillers like I was doing every now and then, I chose to go to a ortho. Was diagnosed with mechanical LBP (low back pain), which is nothing but muscle issues. He warned me that if I fail to take care of this now, issues like disc slippage/nerve damage might be a real possibility. The few times I had lower back muscle spasms and damn they were painful. Couldn't move out of bed for hours together.

Doesn't matter what you use for travel (car or bike), just make sure to keep your core strong. Physiotherapy, lots of stretching and decent amount of rest. Keeping the core strong is key. I am following up with the physiotherapy but haven't been consistent with it. But avoid sitting for long periods. 5 min break for light stretching every hour feels good. Also getting out in the morning sun for 10-15 mins walk.
 
People usually think car ride is better thinking of that cushion will be comfortable but more hard the surface more better, as long as your are sitting in 90 degrees & sleeping on hard or semi hard surface, less the problems.
 
Maintaining a healthy weight doing regular exercises take good diet! Exercise is good for us. so do it everyday.
