They are neck to neck. Back to back test rides will help.

RTR is slightly better when it comes to pure performance. But a lot of it depends on the rider's skill. In a straight line RTR will win (0-60, 100 type). Better brakes. Sportier Riding stance, pain in BTB traffic. Much better exhaust note. Vibes, though they are reduced drastically test ride a friend's bike, coz TD bike at showroom might not be in top condition. Every test rider abuses it.

P180 is no slouch either, but better ride quality. Better rubber. more wheelbase, stability in corner. Many components from P200 and some critical engine/gearbox components improved.

I would go for RTR.
regarding Vibes, they can be further reduced. i'll tell if u need to know, simple steps.

i would go for P180:UG4 cause i found it a slightly better package on the whole over RTR:

1. i love those night lights on the switches (they look exclusive)

2. Easy and cheaply available Bajaj spares

3. Engine note better than RTR but i guess RTR's vibes can be reduced as ashish said.

4. Costs less

Conclusion: Do Not Decide without a proper test ride (With twists/turns/skids) of both. As it may be a matter of personal preference.

+1 for P 180.

TVS cant be trusted as bajaj or yamaha. RTR begins to give real bad vibrations which can be a pain in a$$.

I think the Apache RTR is a big improvement over the 160, my cousin owns this motorcycle and he's a motorcycle expert - always riding and reading about bikes. He also says the 180cc is very different to the 160 and the added power makes it more fun on open roads.

Go with Pulsar 180 UG4, I feel it's engine smoother than RTR 180.. Also RTR is not as comfortable as Pulsar.. Also If you think about stunts, then it's best bike for stunting purpose :D

@imsathya +ve @geek ashish +ve

the pulsar 180 is no match to rtr 180 ......there was spare parts problem only for the 1st year of apache launch...now u can get local and cheap ones....pulsar's spare parts are the cheapest....but 4 the past 3 yrs the only thing i needed is the left indicator

I had the same problem in choosing between pulsar 180 ug3 v4 and Apache 180.A Testride changed it all and I took delivery of Apache.

If at all likes pulsar brand ,add 7-8k and buy Pulsar 220.it is a definite VFM.

I hear rumor that with launch of new 220 DTSi Bajaj is phasing out the 180s due to negligible price diff?
