Hi guys, my UPS has been acting funny, well Powerchute did warn me that the battery needed replacment, anyways with volatge fluctuating last night my comp switched off like 3 times while playing tf2:@ !!

So I called the APC guys, and they said they would replace battery (its Exide) and it would cost me Rs.1200 including taxes, is this worth it??? or is there a better option?

Pls suggest. Thanks.

U wont get the same model of exide battery for 850/-

better to get it done from APC they will give u 2 yrs warranty which is worth the price.

My APC ES-650 battery also needs to replacement, what is the current price of the battery? Should I buy from APC directly or can get it from any battery shop?

Lynx is selling RBC17 APC Replacement Battery for Rs 915 + tax + shipping. Will Exide or others be cheaper than this?

i too am looking to replace my back ups es 650 battery. seems to take quite long ~ 4-6 hours to charge fully and discharges almost completely in less than 10 mins & less than a min if lcd monitor is on :S

I had opened the ups and the battery seems to have a sort of pc power like connector. would we get a battery like that outside?

apc on its site says battery will last around 3-5 years.

Edit: APc gives only 1 year warranty on replacement battery.

Does anyone know the AH rating of this RBC17 battery? Some people are replacing it with 12V - 7, 9 or 10AH battery. :S

Also do we tubular battery in such small ratings? was thinking that a tubular battery would be better than the normal type of battery.

According to the old battery W x H x D measurements the best battery to go for is the

12V9AH type ones which will give max backup time.

Most companies have only one part number for this I think.

Exide : EP9-12H

Luminous :LUM 12V9AH

didn't search any other...

Tubular batteries are used only as external ones, as far as I know. They are large and with higher AH ratings . The internal ones are SMF. (Sealed Maintenance Free)

^ So Exide 12V 9 AH battery would be the best option? Will it have the connector included with it.

Any idea about the price?

you can use 7AH batteries too on the APC ups, only less than 3-4 Mints lesser on our customers.Get Amaron Quanta ,selling less than 600 ,highly recomended,ELse go for CSB or Panasonic

Good Company batteries really last long, ex Exide or Amaron... But again its depends on usage. If battery has been charged & discharged too many times you cannot expect long life from a battery. The normal charge & discharge cycle for lead acid battery would be 350-500 times. Thats why they give 1 year warranty on good company battery

No you wont get tubular battery for such low rating.

But what about the extra wires mentioned earlier? I feel they are meant for the battery condition monitoring through Powerchute/Windows. BTW, I too am using APC 650 VA which was bought recently.

I got mine replaced couple of weeks back, the original 9 AH battery was not available, the 7 AH battery (AMCO) with APC warranty cost me 900 Rs.

didn't get the exide or amaron or luminous battery in my area. the people just say that there is no such battery and got confused after i showed them a printout of battery part from exide site.

also heard that the 7/ 7.2 AH ones gives backup of just 15-20 mins compared to 30-35 mins of backup from 9AH ones which is what apc is using i think, since my old battery used to give that amount of backup time. So I'm getting an APC battery now.

please man, you have opened it up already, see the product code & go to nearby exide store & get a new one & replace it yourself, it is not that hard, it also has a 24month warranty.
