Time for droid Fans to start a debate lol :p:p:p
Waiting for rakrules to comment lol

Lol what to comment. I rarely keep tab on iPads. I own iPad 2 and i as of now see absolutely no reason to "upgrade".
It serves me well for browsing on couch etc, does torrent downloading for me and lasts long thanks to its awesome battery. And yeah connecting it to TV for watching movies etc, i do not own any TV connected media player so i have to use iPad / iPhone connected to TV (using cable, not airplay) to enjoy on big screen.

This is the ipad ive been waiting for. 7 in and 8 in tablets are just too small for enjoyable graphic rich pdf reading. I read lots of comics/ astronomy/ science illustrated books and wanted a light full sized tablet.

As soon as the event ended, i began scouting for hands on videos on youtube and all 'hands-oners' feel that it is much lighter than ipad4 and is comfortable to hold :D. Also it helps that ipad has the best gaming ecosystem. Its a no brainer for me to welcome ipad air into my life

but why Apple didn't mention iPad 3 or iPad 4 anywhere ?

If I am not wrong, we have
iPad [1st gen]
iPad 2 [2nd gen]
iPad [3rd gen]
iPad [4th gen]
and now iPad Air.

So beeches keeping 3 generation older iPad available ? Doesn't make sense

Why not keep iPad 4 and reduce its price? Assh0les

It makes sense for Apple, IMO. iPad Mini and iPad 2 both have same SoC, so smoother SCM. Also can consider iPhone 4S on same SoC.

Protip: Once iPad Air is officially launched in India, and you don't mind owning iPad 3/4, go to your nearest Croma/Electronics/Gadgets retailer and ask for iPad 3/4. Then proceed to bargain the socks off them. They need to clear out their inventory and will give you good discounts.

I bought my cousin a brand new iPad 3 last week from Croma. It was White, 64GB WiFi + Cellular model.
MRP - 42k, Their quote - 35k (off the bat), Final price I paid - 30k.

Pic of the bill or it didn't happen. Honestly Apple products don't get price degradation like that. Especially not off the shelf from a store.

I already have the iPad 4. So, of course I see no current reason to upgrade, though I might look at the next iPad. Anyway, though first time buyers don't have a choice, I feel people wanting to upgrade should wait it out until the next iPad because of three reasons. First-touchid: though it is not a must have for me nor am I excited, it will definitely be part of the next iPad, so one extra feature for same money. Second: I'm still skeptical about the battery life of iPad air(with the huge reduction in battery size)whatever Apple says. I'll wait till the initial excitement dies out and real battery life reviews are out especially for gaming since I highly doubt it would have the same battery life as iPad 4 while gaming or such intensive tasks. Third: The CPU/GPU is still A7 instead of A7x so it has the same power as iPhone 5s, so lower performance on the iPad's high res screen which results in developers removing some effects in games on the iPad which they have on the iPhone to balance performance(already happens even with current gen apple flagships). So, its next year for me :)

guys any idea when will iPad Air refurbs start available on apple US store ?

May be in early 2014 or late 2013. However price difference will be of $50-70. So its effectively waiting a quarter around for max savings of approx 4500.
