Did Apple just kill the small business/home segment with their newest server offering? Seems quite possible..

Sounds great, but how will it be useful to enterprise [leave the h/w part], in terms of say an apple network, snow leopard Server and MAC OSX as workstation. What are the apps can they use in a SOHO environment.

firstly, you can also install *nix on these boxes. *nix is used in WAYYY more enterprise scenarios than macs.

secondly, comparing the mini to nettops imho is complete bullshit. The only thing remotely comparable is the formfactor. A regular PC can easily be purchased for less than the mini's price with better hardware.

and another interesting thing i read a while back was about this hosting company.. it worked by basically leasing out minis. you pay for the mini and any upgrades you wanna do to it and your webserver would be hosted on it.. or something like that :-) pretty sweet imo.

^ Yeah; considering OS X Server Leopard allowing unlimited users cost 999$ before; the 999$ Mac Mini is a good deal.

But I still don't know what exactly would one do with a Mac server? Like what's different from a normal Mac?
