Mac OS Apple releases OS X Mavericks for free

Duh - the TnC would mention that it is only for Apple hardware or something like that.

People have bought Apple OS X versions before and used on Hackintoshes. Should be ok with virtual testing though.

This news is all over internet today. Does this mean I can download and use this OS freely in a VM legally for testing ?

Or how about installing it on a hackintosh ?
Running the mac in VM is not worth it. Creating a hackintosh is a pita. If you have lot of free time then only go this way
If you want to experience mac OS visit apple reseller store and if you like the experience then get the mac

Doh! It's free for all Apple Products on or after 2007. No T&C :)

I have updated mine, and now that it's free, expect huge hackintosh stuff support coming up in few months for all Win Desktops/Laptops.

Damn buggy at the moment
My quad core i7 15inch 8gb ram machine is went damn slow :singing::singing:
Chrome has rendering issues so does safari
I guess a few updates will solve the Problem
At present :arghh:

My intention was to use it for basic testing and generating some certification keys for a citrix based product. Think that is fine in a VM.

Things have changed now. Oracle Virtual Box supports Mac OS X now. All I had to do was create a new VM and boot with the ISO image. Thats all. Worked smoothly.

But yes, to experience full awesomeness of OS X, VM is a bad idea.

PS : I am typing this from my Hackintosh machine, running Mavericks on Dell XPS L501x

Just curious is it Dell's touchpad works fine with mac gestures?

side scroller, two finger and three finger scrolls work in my laptop. Thats all :P

some people got pinch to zoom working, but I never tried. So..

Posting this from the new Mavericks on my Air. TBH everything till now seems same. Nothing majorly new. Like the new Safari. Have not tried using Tabs as of now but with spotlight who really need tabs !. Wanted a more powerful mail client hopefully that will be the next upgrade.

Looks like I will have to re-install Mac OS. The problem is every time I try Internet Recovery it fails to download the OS properly and the service centre guys are asking for 1k to reinstall Mac OS on my Air.

Its a PITA to download the OS. Also before upgrading I saved the installer copy from the applications folder for future tensions.

I also reinstalled Mavericks today. The dirty install over 10.8.6 was horrible for me. I also saved the installer for future references and also made a USB install disk from it.
@rdst_1 your most welcome to take the file from me.

I have no idea where he stays, but if he is from mumbai, he is welcome :)
torrents are available, but its less secure and most are unverified.

Thanks for the offer. Switch is from NCR IIRC and I keep travelling to Delhi frequently so thought maybe I can get him to make a bootable drive for me, if he has the time.

You are not able to download from App Store ?

I removed any and all traces of MacOS so I can't download it from the App store. I installed Win 8 because I couldn't get Win 7 to install at all. It used to boot but I couldn't get past the Install Now screen on Win 7. Now I need to use Win 7 hence I need to re-install MacOS to install Win 7 via Bootcamp. If someone can assure me that booting from a Win7 DVD via an external DVD drive will let me install Win 7 then I don't need to install MacOS at all.
