Apple Vision Pro is here

Hololens was similarly priced. However it found a niche among enterprise users for designing, remote troubleshooting, etc.

Other than youtubers buying it.I haven't gone through wwdc highlights yet, does anyone know the use cases for this?
They have also focused more with military applications

That power bank thing shown connected to vision pro is actually its battery. It will give 2 hrs even with that connected.

I was thinking there is inbuilt battery with 2 hrs running time and powerbank will add more time.

So you can only use for 2 hrs before you have to put it for charging again .
Ek Hindi movie average running time -2.3 hrs. So to watch the climax you will have to charge again.

It will give 2 hrs even with that connected.
I'm hoping third party connectors come up that increase the battery life, but considering this won't be a consumer product anytime soon, that might be a long shot. Hopefully by the time this is a product for normal people, you can just plugin a Type C power bank

I don't think it has Type c connector. Looked like a proprietary connection to me.
Also things may have changed now but most Apple products I have ( iPhone 10) usually use to give problems with third party cables .

And For normal people ...haha.
Even Americans middle class is taken back by the price.

For Indian normal( middle class) this is about 3- 5 years away. 2027 maybe.

Let Elite class enjoy.

Normal class can try it for 10 min in Apple Imagine store till then.

I wonder how Steve Jobs would have reacted on knowing that they have to carry wired powerbank which just gives 2hrs of time , sounds counter productive to their watch a movie experience ! Marques called it out !

See MrWhoseTheBoss's video. I like his analysis on this. This is the next big product from Apple, they likely believe it'll replace the iPhone over the coming decade.
The refinements are top notch, and clearly show the seriousness of Apple to lead the space. All the array of sensors, the navigation, fluid look at surroundings etc. It is very well developed.
They will likely look at optimising power, size and price in the coming years.
I believe this is the next evolution of phones and laptops - maybe the form might change, but the "next big thing" has been kickstarted.

There is some health concerns that might not be clear yet.
LIke Mrwhosetheboss mentioned having it so close to the eyes and wearing it for long time might cause other issues.

The way I see this is definitely a well designed and well- thought product but it is still a gamble.
It might go motion control gaming way where Sony , Nintendo and Xbox were trying to bring an immersive experience but in the end Nintendo won because of making it fun and enjoyable and affordable also because they had taken the task of doing it almost all on themselves instead of relying on third party who were not sure if they should put that much effort and money on new tech.

In the end motion gaming is more or less gone and all big gaming companies are back to old style of gaming. I know this cannot be compared with gaming product straight away but it is still an interesting lesson .

Is the battery life any surprise? There are smart watches in the market capable of giving 8-10 days battery life. I have an amazfit and I don't even bother carrying the charger for 4-5 day's trip. In contrast, Apple boasts of a whopping 18 hour battery life on their smart watch. Their newer products are not like the old days.

Yes. When it comes to smart watches Apple watches battery life cannot even match Rs 1000 watches from Chinese brands.
Now this is just one comparison . Even Samsung is better and Garmin toh baap hai battery life ka .

You are comparing RTOS with proper full fledged operating system. It is like comparing a 7W TDP chip with 150W TDP chip and saying why 150W chip has less battery life. I have used Amazfit and it was absolute donkey shit when it came to tracking heart beat and activities (I go for cycling every week). Notifications are useless and I cannot respond to notificaions. There is no 3rd party app support. Had switched to Apple Watch to get proper health tracking. Apple, Samsung and Huawei watches are way way way better for fitness/health tracking.

Garmin is definitely a better watch purely for tracking fitness/heatlth but it is ridiculously expensive for the features it provides. Highly recommended for professionals though. Also, even Garmin watch battery life varies heavily based on features that you use The following is for 965:

GPS-only mode without music: Up to 31 hours
SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode: Up to 22 hours
All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band: Up to 19 hours
GPS-Only GNSS mode with music: Up to 10.5 hours
SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode with music: Up to 9.5 hours
All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band with music: Up to 8.5 hours

Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch line up are best of both worlds. They have great tracking features and come with 3rd party app support, integrate really well with respective ecosystems.

Here is comparison of many fitness trackers, done by 'The Quantified Scientist' channel. This is heartbeat measurement accuracy, compared against chest strap Polar heart beat tracker. Look at where cheap watches. They are just glorified digital watch with step counter. Anything more, they should be avoided. Not at all recommended for use for workouts.

See this for Amazfit GTS 2 Mini. First one is for spinning on stationary bike and the second is on a outdoor bicycle ride. This is how bad these cheap watches are.

Heart rate tracking while doing activities like cycling or running is very hard. Reason is that there is lot of vibrations in your wrist and forearm when you are riding and this causes the watch to shake a lot. Very few brands have nailed it for outdoor activities (Apple, Huawei etc). The very reason why I switched from Amazfit GTR 2 to Apple Watch S7 is because I was getting very poor data from GTR 2. Mid way through cycling, it would stop recording heart rate. GPS lock too used to take few seconds and it would stop the moment I ride from under a metro terminal. Had zero such issues with Apple Watch. I can share lot lot more data related to fitness on Apple Watch (from my watch) but I hope you do get my point.

Don't want to derail this topic but comparision with Chinese brands was just about battery life . I know they can't even come close to accuracy with Apple watch.
Which is why I mentioned other brands as more direct comparison to Apple.

And I actually have seen Garmin watch being cheaper than Apple watch. Not sure if you just looking at Indian prices?
If yes, then I agree Garmin India have priced it too high.
Garmin USA is much more reasonable.

As I said, you cannot compare watches running RTOS with watches running full fledged OS. Please understand how these watches work and what kind of OS they run before comparing about battery life. In newbie terms, you cannot compare Nokia 1100 battery life with Galaxy S23 battery life.

The battery pack seems pretty anemic IMO, 2 hours is just *not long enough (That's what she said, sorry couldn't resist).

However, third parties are sure to come up with a bigger powerpack.

Also found it funny when a youtuber commented "I saw the dad watching 3d video of his daughters birthday, but can you imagine someone wearing the headset and recording any event when its going on? like "Dad, why are you wearing that helmet?"" XD
