I think Thermalrights would be better for the quadfather. But im getting Tuniq tower as I need some space for ram cooler.

Invest on Ultra 120 or Ultra 120 Extreme.

Isn't the Tuniq bigger than the U120? Where you getting it from??

ya, it is. But it has more clearance in the bottom. And with the fan mounted on Ultra 120, my OCZ xtc mem cooler wont fit in.

Its already at my friends place in US, need few more parts for it to be shipped.

Sorry to bump this old thread- but imho the reply is not right. :(

How is Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for Core 2 Quad QX6700 and Q6600 processors?
No overclocking, need only silence.

Wouldn recommend it for quad. C2D is fine.

The Freezer7 pro should offer definitely silence and better cooling too imho, esp over the stock cooler.

I recently installed a 'TR Ultra90i+48-52cfm 92mm' fan on a Q6600 G0 at stock that does 3D renders most of the time and we could notice an instantaneous 8-10C drop on full load temps on a fairly hot and humid mid-may Mumbai evening. :)

The freezer extreme pro has comparable preformance if not better and the stock AC pwm 92mm fan is a boon for those seeking silence.

I can provide a concrete report on this when a friend might install a freezer7 pro on a Q6600 sometime later this month. :cool2:

+1 bikey.

For stock cooling, this shud be perfectly fine :)

I run one too, though on a E4500, but its pretty silent. (tho i keep mine at 100% speed :ashamed:

My 120mm and other fans drown it out easily :P

Would agree with BIKeINSTEIN based on the Anandtech Review (also linked in KMD's thread) , but why did this old thread get bumped anyway?? :)

...The Freezer 7 Pro fares even better. This sub-$25 cooler exhibits performance scaling that is much better than we had any right to expect at this price point. It also pushes overclocking to a very good 3.85GHz, which is a record for this price point.

Both coolers are also superb in cooling at stock CPU speeds, under both idle and load conditions. In fact, they are so good at stock performance that it is easy to recommend one of these coolers as a way to extend your CPU life even if you have no intention of overclocking. That is particularly true when you consider how quiet both coolers are. Either cooler is near silent in most situations.

A year old topic! How did you even manage to find it bikey?

Btw, i've been using the freezer pro for more than a year on my E6400. At load its around the 60 degrees mark (maybe more) at 3-3.2Ghz.

Was chking for similar threads if any before posting one on the freezer extreme- was apalled at the reply.
In correct info can be disastrous to some ignorant/uninformed person and needed corection imho. :)

Gannu- a line or 2 of O/T in a post or maybe a post is ok but avoid using threads in tech sections for convos/discussions unless it's related to the topic.
use PM or IM.
I hope even you will agree that it takes away from the gravity of the situation. :(
And i told you this openly here coz i know you a bitand know that you will take it in the right sense. :)
A post on TE that implies- "freezer 7 pro won't be good for Q6600 G0 at stock, over the stock cooler, even for silence".

^ Bikey, my bad here!! I misread the post (the original one) and hence stated that. No OC and only silence needed then the Arctic freezer 7 should be just fine! damn what a bummer :ashamed:

Nah re- chill- happens. :P

In fact, i would love to try a freezer7 pro on a Q6600 G0 at 3G- decent OC and hopefully the freezer7 pro will be able to handle it.

The chip does 65C odd at stock spped under fullest load on a hot summer day- if the freezer7 pro can keep it even a degree lower at 3Ghz, then not bad at all imho. :)
