Are consoles killing PC Gaming

Don't turn this into another PC vs Console thread. As i said its a matter of personal choice. As far as the costs are concerned , PC and consoles even out on that front. PC needs periodic upgrades whereas consoles do not.

PC games aren;t dying what I understand is that they need exceptional ammount of coding and understanding as all the different types of hardware has to be supported.

Whereas console games have a limited set of options and anyways I love the mouse and keyboard though some games are good on the console but come 2 player on split screen is so sad.

I love the idea of hamachi etc. to play with your friends.

Oh right! I'll just get back to playing MGS4 on my atari2600 then.

No point being sarcastic. :/

The shelf life of a console is around 5 years on an average. So that gives PS3 another 4 years , lets see if your 9800gx2 can withstand that period.

^^^

ya lets c...coz this time round its gonna be a lot long...atleast for 90% of the games it will last as long as one of the consoles life time.

also why do u compare with the 9800GX2...dats the problem.

compare it with the 8600gt/gts or a 9600GSO..

the 8600Gt still plays almost all games at 1024x768 res wid full details...lets c how much long it can hold one.

this time its diff as PC is jus getting console ports.no no more upgrades unless playing PC exclusives like CRYSIS.

Unfortunately, there are three of these consoles out right now. So even if the shelf life were 6 six years, that's still adds up to buying an entirely new console every 2 years which is about the average life time of most people's GFX card choices. Also, A non-top of the line gaming PC can still play most games whereas consoles are reduced to oversized paper weights at the end of each gen. This is especially true now with backwards compatibilty becoming a staple of all consoles.

All the more reason to opt for a console :cool2:

but its jus not any shitty ports..Pc's getting good port.Plus extra contents over its console counterparts and free downloadable contents later.

So all the more reason to get the PC version and save a hell lot of cash.

Consoles target mainstream users who are more open than ever to try their hands out at Video Games..and this time it is not only the 8-18 t(w)eeny boppers buying games but even your grandpa..

On the other hand, PC games are increasingly getting relegated to a very specific market -->

No wonder PC games are dying

I agree with the gist of your post or at least what you were aiming at(that consoles are primarily aimed at the idiot crowd of gamers who can't even do so much as install a game), otherwise it's just blatant speculation.

that consoles are primarily aimed at the idiot crowd of gamers who can't even do so much as install a game

seems like a misinterpretation to me...at least to my eyes, the guy in the pic is the one who looks like a moron :bleh:

Not quite sure how that's relevant to the topic or once again, I'm just finding it impossible to decipher whatever it is that you're saying.
