another thing are there cabinets available of this size so i can build up my own system

get the smallest cabby you can find and put in an Atom CPU/mobo combo and you are set :)

techi bhai if ya by any chance know any such small cabinet (have already searched many online sites for such cabinets no luck till now...whats available is expansive) also it seemed strange but sites like lynx and prime are not selling atom processors

www.deltapage.com has the atom combo. 3.8k listed (prices are up). Should be lesser. Check locally ;)

Cabinet:

Check zebronics, they have some small form factor ones. Also something from iball called the 'baby'. Although I think this comes with a custom-sized PSU that you must buy with it. Check up.

Zebby super-slim 'dhoom'

Mini-Itx one (I think I will check up on the mini-itx price, looks tempting :))

iBall baby 207

iBall baby 306

My 2 cents:

Was thinkin of one, then realised that even with my power guzzling 4850, the power savings would NOT add up for >1yr :P Just use your laptop with a laptop cooler and an external disk connected :P Will reduce laptop life somewhat over the long term perhaps, not much else.

the problem is that i use my lappy during college hours ie from 8 till 9 in the evening so cant use it as a 24/7 download rig :( will go for building up a atom based systen if it costs me <10,000 otherwise will ask KMD :)

KMD will be much >>>>10k :P

This should be easily possible at that price.

Eeek.. "Tambi" sounds like a weird name for an enclosure. :|

@OP: Build urself a 2nd hand PC for the download system. 5k could easily get you a 939 mainboard + Athlon XP 3000+ + 512MB DDR stick + a 160/250GB hdd and a generic PSU. :P
