Are wifi extenders worth it

Are wifi extenders good
Or can i go with wireless router which has wireless extender feature available at same price to extend my network wirelessly

I don't have an wifi extender so can't comment but my old router works fine as extender. Though I prefer access point mode to get full speed (currently using)

But the problem is wired connection is not possible
And when using old router as access point from jio fiber router there is frequent drops in bandwidth like i get good speed for some time and suddenly speeds falls drastically after sometime gets to normal
I changed my router settings like disabled dhcp, connected ethernet cable to lan instead of wan port
Tried everything it just don't work I think the problem is my router it is almost 12 years old
That is why looking for extender or router with wireless extender option
Any techies pls give suggestions!!

I think your router is showing signs of aging as 12 years is a long time with almost no updates. You can buy any second hand router (4~5yrs old) that should work fine. Or spend some more to get wifi repeater buying a new router to be used as repeater makes no sense.

would rather recommend you invest into a proper Mesh setup if you cost is not an issue, thats the best long term solution imo
