In our effort to help all Indian telecom customers, we bring to you this important news development. As per the DoT guidelines all handsets with Invalid IMEI will be barred by the 30th November.

Each GSM mobile handset has a unique code called IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) issued by the GSM authority. As per Government of India Directive, handsets with non-genuine IMEI will stop working on all networks by 30th November 2009.

Check your handset IMEI by dialing *#06#. A 15-digit number will be displayed on your handset.

In case of an invalid IMEI, you can avoid inconvenience of buying a new handset by following the below mentioned instructions:

-Visit only authorised GII (Genuine IMEI Implant) centres, set up on Government approved process, which can implant new genuine IMEI on the handset.

-Pay a nominal charge of Rs 199 (all inclusive) and obtain a receipt.

-Carry your handset with a valid identity Proof for identification purposes while visiting these centres.

I have heard this news so many times before. But the dates keep extending! The operators are not serious of enforcing this... they don't want to!

Helpful if you can give City & Authorized Center Name with Phone Numbers where any one can get IMEI Number Implanted in handset. :)
