Assassin's Creed - Cant install on Vista X64

I am unable to install Assassin's Creed on Vista X64

Both the autorun / setup.exe says - This version of file cant be install on this version of windows blah...blah...

Have anyone faced such an issue before, and aware of a fix for it
 
hey man plays great in vista64
the only problem with AC was after crossing jerusalem the whole system hangs
i tired nearly 8 times
there anre many patches but i dont like them
its a sexy game
 
well i know that quite a couple of games dont work in x64...try using windows 7 x64..the beta is out for download..im using the 32 bit one and im loving it
 
assasins creed should work perfectly in Vista X64.:)

i am myself playing it on Vista SP1 X64.

maybe SP1 makes a difference ? but not sure..

infact i think Assasins creed has a X64 execution file too after the installation.

Its not an issue with game running, but the installation setup file doesn't start on vista x64 sp1, for me atleast

I just tried to install the game on XP machine, update to 1.02 patch ( claims support for x64) - then copied the entire dump to Vista machine

Ran the game with DX10 exe and works great

If someone has this same problem, please try this workaround
