Hi,
Need your expert advice on the issue i am facing.
My motherboard is Asus A8N-E, the chipset fan is sometimes working and many times not working, whenever its speed is low or it not working i get a message to press f1 and proceed, if i proceed here sound is not detected and i don't get any sound in my machine. But when sometimes the fan starts to run, and i don't get that message and the machine boots properly, sound is detected.
What is this problem, is it because of the chipset fan, or the problem lies somewhere else.

Please help, as i am not able to listen to anything on my machine.

I had an A8N-E and the chipset fan started acting wierd after about 3.5 years of usage. It's speed started to vary between 800rpm to the maximum of ~4k. cleaning the dust off helped but eventually the fan died.

The 'sound not working' is due to the chipset fan which is not cooling the chipset properly. You can try to dust it off and check if it is working. Keep the side panel open to get some ventilation. Do not run your PC in such a condition for prolonged time, I did and my mobo is dead now.

If the fan is dead/dying replace it with a similar one or simply place a bigger fan on top of it to increase airflow for better cooling.

you can get a new chipset fan from any dealer, else you can use a vga cooler fan from a non working AGP board to replace the same,or nearest Asus service shop/repair shop ,may have used working chipset cooler for sale (at a lower rate),

thanks for replies,

can someone help to guide where i can get this chipset fan in pune, possible near to swargate or camp area.

thanks guys,

issue solved, replaced the chipset fan, got it for 375, not sure whether its on the higher side or correct, i think its on higher side.
