Hi everybody,
well i will be getting my opty 165 tomorrow.
As for the mobo i was pretty much set for a8n-e,but i have read many issues with this mobo in many forums.
I have heard abt data corruption issues while downloading from internet.
Northbridge chipset fan failing for many people within 1 week of usage.
And many more. Are this all true.
Is there someone here who uses this board and had some problems with this board.
Also the nf4 ultra chipset drivers listed in asus downloads section is v6.65
while in nvidia's site is 6.70 and 6.85,
Pretty confused why asus didnt update in their downloads section.

Arreh..that issue is not because of the A8N-e but specific to MAxtor drives..poor mobo had to take the blame for it...:p..that issue has been discussed to the brink...dont worry about it..no data corruption with a8ne at all..my friend has been using that board for almost 5-6 months now..not even a single file corrupted..;)

Its pretty normal for a delay in updating the driver pages on Manufacturer websites because they have to test the drivers on their products before an update..i'm sure you wudnt like an untested buggy driver ;)....check out the pages in a few days, it'll be updated.. :)

@ blueyesdude,
as informed to you earlier on phone do not install the nvidia firewall and Active armour security software which comes on the m/b driver CD and you will not have any data corruption issues with programs downloaded from the internet.

Regarding the fan failure some batches of Asus nf4 m/b's did have a very bad lot of fans. however the newer production boards do not have this problem.

No issues with my A8NE Rev. 2 either!!

I guess all A8NEs now are Rev.2- they came with a redesigned sink and fan!!
Mobo has Rev. 2.0 written in white paint!!

I think with the older sli deluxe and A8NE that had similar fans- the fans touched 8-9K and then failed with some grinding noise!!

New ones run at 5.5-6K odd at full blast!!

The A8N-E has got no OC issues unless u disable the Floppy Drive in the BIOS Main Menu. U do that, then the OC level comes down drastically. Dunno why. Apart from that, the board is a superb OC'er.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've had the corruption problem without maxtor drives (using samsung drives), so I doubt maxtor's to blame. After upgrading chipset/bios from asus' site it got better, but I'm still fighting with it from time to time. Maybe the newer driver blueyesdude mentions that asus didn't put on their site could help? I can't find them on nvidia's page, maybe someone could be kind enough to link to it?

ive been using the board for over 1 1/2 years now.. it works just fine...

though ive had to replace the chipset fan 2 times .. but i do use it 24/7 and it will eventually fail the fans life itself is some few thousands of hrs.. but its covered undr warranty...

and i did get the one wit the 9k rpm fan .. it worked fine for 10 months or so then 1 replacement and again in 1-2 months another one... now its working fine...
for drivers use only the drivers from nvidia.com...dont even bother abt the asus drivers...
just keep flashing bios from asus thats it... n use probe.

n for the firewall thing... dont even try to use the onboard firewall and the active amour ... in my exp it has never worked ...its just a waste
