For potential buyers (and/or tinkerers), here are some relevant information for this model (ASUS Chromebook Flip C214):
  • Auto Update Expiration (AUE) date: Jun 2029.
  • Codename of the model: AMPTON.
  • Codename of the baseboard: octopus.
  • Hardware Write Protect disabling: Possible, using the CR50 (battery) method.
  • MrChromebox UEFI support: Yes.
  • Possible to wipe ChromeOS and install Windows/Linux: Yes.
  • Hardware upgrade scenario: Everything (RAM, Wi-Fi module, eMMC, etc.) is soldered, and there is no M.2 slot for storage expansion.
