Budget 90k+ ASUS Laptops 2023 Specs Comparison

Disciple
I was keenly following Asus laptops in 2022 and was excited to hear of their refreshed lineup, so I jotted them down on docs so I can compare easily. Every model has a 'Best' and a 'Worst' SKU because some markets get stuck with the poorer cousin even when reviewers advertise the best.

Observations so far:
  1. G16 looks nerfed this year with a forced 720p webcam and only IPS options.
  2. G16 has also moved away from Ryzen to Intel 13th Gen, so that's any 'battery king' awards down the drain. (Warning - It has an Intel 12th Gen CPU in the i7 version HMM ASUS HMM)
  3. G14 seems to be somewhere between G16 and M16 this year, with a 1080p webcam and a Mini LED option
  4. But the G14 it has HUGE variations between its top and bottom models - Top is a Zen 4 AMD CPU + 4090 with a QHD Mini LED, while the bottom is a Zen 3+ + 3050 + FHD IPS (Developing countries ftw).
  5. M16 seems to be the most well rounded product this year. Really nothing to rage about. If the battery is upwards of 5h, I might go for this one.
  6. Flow X16 has jumped ship from Ryzen to Intel, kinda bizarre. I was willing to live with its caveats in 2022 and almost bought it, but the 2023 one is not for me.
  7. Flow X13 has a tasty Ryzen Gen 4 CPU/RDNA 3 iGPU/FHD/75Wh option which should be a budget battery champ with 1650 level GPU performance at 1.3Kgs. Unfortunately the screen is only 75% DCI-P3 and I am guessing maxes out at 400 nits.
  8. Flow Z13 has only QHD options with a 56Wh battery, combined with Intel i9-13900H. This one seems more like a small desktop replacement. Expect it to be always powered in?
  9. Scar 16 has a tasty Mini LED option, but bizarrely, the Scar 18 does not. Maybe an 18 inch Mini LED isn't manufactured for ASUS? Interesting that you lose value when you get a *likely* more expensive product.
Which laptop makes the most sense for you this year?
Let me know if you found any mistakes in the list!
I will update it with Legion, Razer etc later. But ASUS does have the widest variety every year, so way more fun to compare :)

So, No Advantage Edition Laptops this year?
There is the TUF A16 (Columns AB and AC). Seems like a nice laptop. 16:10 QHD+ screen, 120W 7700S and only 2.2kgs. But unfortunately only offers a 720p Webcam and IPS. If it had a Mini LED - that would have been an option for me. I really want a screen upgrade on my next laptop.

Can you address Linux compatibility? Tough I guess.
What do you mean, bro? Can you not dual boot in any Windows laptop? There are distros and such with working Nvidia drivers? Sorry, not too aware of further specifics.
Also, a few TUF series models come with no pre-installed OS if you want to save some money.

The displays used this year are also interesting. They have a bunch of them, and some markets like India might get the short end of the stick, so we gotta be careful when choosing variants:
  1. Mini LED, 1600p, 1024 zones, 1100 Nits, 240Hz - Top Top tier used in Zephyrus Duo and Scar 16
  2. Mini LED, 1600p, 1024 zones, 1100 Nits, 165Hz - Top tier used in M16/Flow X16
  3. Mini LED, 1600p, 504 zones, 600 nits, 165Hz - Second tier used in Zephyrus G14
  4. IPS, 1600p/1080p, 100% DCI-P3, 500 nits, 240Hz - Used in Zephyrus G16 and the TUF A17, F17 (16:9)
  5. IPS, 1600p, 100% DCI-P3, 165Hz - Used in Strix G16, G18, Flow X13, Z13
  6. IPS, 1200p, 100% sRGB, 165Hz - Used in Zephyrus G16
  7. IPS, 1200p/1080p, 100% sRGB, 144Hz - Used in Zephyrus G14 and TUF A15, F15 (16:9)
  8. IPS, 1200p, 100% sRGB, 120Hz - Used exclusively in the Flow X13
  9. IPS, 1080p, 62.5% sRGB, 144Hz - The anomaly used in the low end of the TUF 17.3" models - A17, F17 (Stay away)

All 4050 Laptops are in worse category those should be close to 3060 performance
Right - for some models, the worst SKU you can get is with a 4050. For others, it goes down to the new 3050.
By worst, I am not trying to say the model is not a good performer :) Just what the lowest end config is - chip aside, screen and CPU is where they are saving money on some of the lowest end SKUs even in premium models like the G14.
