Hi, recently my PC just would not start for some reason
it doesnt boot , no post , no beep , no display , tried hdmi and VGA,
all the fans spins , they do till I turn it off , tried with one ram stick, I also tried with no ram sticks and I do not get any beep or anything.
Also one other thing I noticed is that when I turn the power for my PC on through the connector in my wall socket, my fans spin (start-stop very slowly) like electricity is trickling into them without me even actually pressing the button to start my desktop.
My mouse and keyboard do not light up aswell.
What could be the issue.

I tried reading the manual, and personally own a 990X board. From memory they have debug lights leds for gpu, cpu, memory and if it stops at one you know the problem is there. I see you got some LEDs on the motherboard. Do any of these light up?

For example if u power on without ram, you would get the led light on, if no DIMMs : The DRAM_LED also lights when the DIMM is not properly installed.

No Lights, nothing happens unfortunately

There are 2 things probably unrelated I would try since it helped me in the past, 1 was earthing.
1. We carried the whole pc to the shop since it didnt work at home, but it worked in the shop, the repair guy said its an earthing issue to check my supply at home.
2. I had a really weird issue with my Z87 board where it would get stuck in boot loop. I would have to remove the ram and just interchange their position, and it posted fine until the next cold boot. The solution to this was to just use a Duracell CMOS battery, shockingly enough.

These are 2 odd things I can think of, but lets wait for other people to chime in. Its been very long since I handled the Phenom 2 platform.

  • No issues with earthing in my setup since I recently had a electrician visit who found that my spike guard had no earthing and then I changed my spike guard.
  • Replaced the CMOS with a Duracell CMOS CR2032 and the first boot after that took some time but then I restarted it and now my PC works fine, thanks @nanogenesis,
will see if it works tomorrow as well and update here.
  • Also I do not have the option of interchanging my RAM as only two slots out of four work in my mobo unfortunately and they both are different channels.
