CPU/Mobo Asus, MSI and Gigabyte Z68 motherboards reviewed at Techreport

Nothing much there to be exited about Z68. Here's a gist of what I gathered from the review.

1. QuickSync works just like in the H67 boards.

2. Use of Lucid Virtu results in reduced Graphics performance and doesn't give you any substantial savings in terms of idle power consumption. It also results in errors from the AMD/nVidia Graphics Card control panels every time you boot windows.

3. Smart Response (SSD Caching) works, but there is considerable risk for data loss with write caching enabled in maximized mode. Also this tech doesn't help improve boot times, but game loading does seem to see an advantage. Also this feature requires activation of RAID support on said SATA sorts which is often flaky on many motherboards. Also while this feature is available native in the z68 chipset, there are hardware controllers that allow you to couple a HDD and an SSD and get gains in a similar fashion on any motherboard including the P67 ones.

4. SATA performance of Z68 seems to be inferior to P67 for some reason.
