Hello there well built this system on saturday i.e
Core 2 Duo E6300
Asus P5LD2 VM SE
512*2 Transcend DDR2 667
400W powersafe PSU

Well now here is my problem i was running this system for a while on the single DDR2 ram stick, after having solved some CPU temp issues i happily added the 2nd stick but next up all i see is a garbled boot screen with the ram counter stuck at 505mb.Hoping i dint put in the second stick properly i resinserted the stick but again the same problem i pulled out both the sticks tried them on individually in the 1st slot both worked very well but if i put the sticks individually into the 2nd slot none of them work.

It was lunch time so i shut the pc down with both the stick in the 2 slots each, came back after lunch rebooted the pc thinking maybe it mite just work and woah babay!!! it booted without any glitches played around with vista some HD vids played some games all through the day finally i shut down the pc in the nite time went to bed. Next morning i wake up boot the pc and bang that problem returns the bios screen is garbled with the counter stuck at 505mb.

I have tried memtest on the both the sticks they passed the test so looks like the ram aint faulty so does it mean the Board is faulty ,looked up asus's site for any bios updates but there are none.

Please do help me out here.

well i took the machine down to the dealer yesterday its with him since yesterday he has put it on testing .the machine is working very well there (as usual) while this happened to me twice at home he absolutely hasnt gotten this problem yet, hope the ram modules are compatible with the board dunno what to say now iam already fed up with the machine now.

@kidrock well saw you too have the same board and seem to have bought the same ram as well ,have you bought individual 512mb sticks or a 1gb stick.

A friend had bought the same mobo with a Transcend 1 GB 667 stick. Was working fine even without any bios upgrades. Upgrade ur bios and check. One more thing are the DDR2-667 available in 512 MB sticks? Coz i thought only 1 Gb sticks were available

try reinserting the RAM into different DIMM slots .. the garbled screen thing has happened to me at times but bcomes ok on restarting...happened at my friends place and it bcame ok when i changed the DIMM slots..newer bios might help as well ... :)

in short fool around with the DIMMs a bit :P will bcome ok :D
