Asus RT-N13U B1 - DD-wrt thread

@RajeshJ
Your startup script for pyload doesn't seems accurate whats the status of
Code:
pyLoadCore.py --status
hello Dinjo

1) I can manually activate Pyload by running this command from Putty, but wont work from DD-WRT Startup config

But will work if i Disable Transmission from Startup-config in DD-WRT

2) After Manually Starting Pyload from putty i entered the command you gave

Code:
root@DD-WRT:~# pyLoadCore.py --status
-sh: pyLoadCore.py: not found

root@DD-WRT:~# python pyLoadCore.py --status
python: can't open file 'pyLoadCore.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory

root@DD-WRT:~# python /opt/share/pyload/p
pavement.py    pyLoadCli.py  pyLoadCore.py  pyLoadGui.py

root@DD-WRT:~# python /opt/share/pyload/pyLoadCore.py --status
2470
root@DD-WRT:~#

I think i should do a fresh Reinstall of optware getting too dmesg error

Your startup script is incorrectly looking at wrong pid.

Code:
mkdir /tmp/etc/config #Create a dir /tmp/etc/config

echo "wget http://home.karneval.cz/10102207/fs.gz -P /tmp/root" >> /tmp/etc/config/fs.wanup #Get the tar file which has fs drivers and store in /tmp/root
echo "tar -xvzf /tmp/root/fs.gz -C /tmp/root" >> /tmp/etc/config/fs.wanup #Build a shell script by appending to output using >> , command to extract the tar file.
echo "sh /tmp/root/ext3" >> /tmp/etc/config/fs.wanup #Add ext3 to run it

sleep 10

mount -o rw -t ext3 /dev/sda2 /mnt

echo "rm /tmp/root/*.ko /tmp/root/fs.gz /tmp/root/ext3" >> /tmp/etc/config/fs.wanup #Clean up the traces
chmod +x /tmp/etc/config/fs.wanup # Provide Exec permissions and run the above commands

sleep 3
#mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
#mount /dev/sda4 /jffs
sleep 3
echo "nobody:*:65000:65000:nobody:/mnt:/bin/false" >> /etc/passwd # Add nobody for samba share
echo 1 > /sys/class/scsi_disk/0:0:0:0/allow_restart # To avoid HDD spindown
/opt/bin/transmission-daemon -g /mnt/data/torrents/.config/transmission-daemon

python /opt/share/pyload/pyLoadCore.py

echo 128 > /sys/block/sda/device/max_sectors

Edit

I followed this guide and make startup in init folder

http://wl500g.info/archive/index.php/t-21844.html

Code:
. Start-Stop Script

cd /opt/etc/init.d
nano S90pyloadstart

insert this:

#!/bin/sh

prefix="/opt"
PATH=${prefix}/bin:${prefix}/sbin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin

start() {
echo "starting pyLoad"
pyLoadCore --daemon
}

stop() {
echo "stopping pyLoad"
pyLoadCore --status | xargs kill -9
}
status() {
pyLoadCore --status
}

case "$1" in
start)
start
;;
stop)
stop
;;
restart)
stop
sleep 4
start
;;
status) status
;;
*)
echo "Usage: $0 (start|stop|restart|status)"
exit 1
;;
esac

exit 0
[code]

make executable:

chmod +x /opt/etc/init.d/S90pyloadstart

[New DD-WRT startup]
sh /opt/etc/init.d/S90pyloadstart start

Now both working fine

Code:
#!/bin/sh

prefix="/opt"
PATH=${prefix}/bin:${prefix}/sbin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
NAME="PyLoad"
DAEMON="python /opt/pyload/pyLoadCore.py --daemon"
DAEMON_OPTS=""

start() {
       echo "Starting Service: $NAME"
       $DAEMON $DAEMON_OPTS | awk '{print $3}' >/var/run/pyload.pid
}

stop() {
        if [ -n "`pidof $NAME`" ]; then
            echo "Stopping Service: $NAME"
            killall $NAME 2> /dev/null
        fi
        }

case "$1" in
       start)
               start
               ;;
       stop)
               stop
               ;;
       restart)
               stop
               sleep 4
               start
               ;;
              *)
               echo "Usage: $0 (start|stop|restart)"
               exit 1
               ;;
esac

I am not able to connect to router whenever i tried to connect any device which is 20 feet from router. I tested on different mobile, laptop and with different OS. I restored router firmware to original firmware but i don't face similar problem with this. Currently router is running on DD-WRT v24 sp2 build. Is there any problem with setting. I can see 40% signal strength in another room but still i am not able to connect.

Guys can someone help me with this issue.

I am using Asus RT N13 B1 with DD-WRT and it is placed in the Hall corner. The WiFi has consistently delivered a good strong signal and the ability to use it throughout my house. Few days ago I am not able to use it in the Next room which is at around 8 meters from the router. On Linux mint I can see signal strength at 40 to 50% but when i tired to connect it, it shows connecting and after some time, it asks for password.
I can connect with router in hall without any issues. I had tested connection with 2 Laptops, 3 Phones and tablet also but i cant connect with any device. I have done the usual troubleshooting stuff such as rebooting, resetting to factory default etc but to no avail.
Has anyone observed symptoms like the ones I describe?

^^Yes, I too am facing the same issue. The signal is OK in the hall which is at a distance of 15-20feet, but the signal strength is much lower in the room next to the router - which is hardly at a distance of 8-10 feet. At times the signal level drops and increases at the same place. I thought I was the only one facing this issue with this router.
NOTE: I am running stock firmware Ver:2.0.2.5O

Is this still a good router to get. I will be installing DD-WRT on it. I need:
  1. Printer support, so that I can connect my printer directly with the router.
  2. Ability to connect my hard disk directly with it.
  3. Reliable operation for 24x7 operation.
If only one device can be connected, I will be connecting my hard disk so that my TV can access the movies on it. Is flipkart the best place to get it?

@baccilus
Yes, true VFM router if you are installing DD-WRT. Not if you will be isung only stock firmware as its buggy and needs rebooting every other day or so. But with DD-WRT its the best.
Its got only one USB port so will need to choose between either printer or HDD. I did suggest get a WiFi printer at some point of time - HP/Cannon were available for 5500 approx the last tym I was shopping for it.
Be prepared for some R&D as the NTFS HDD is not supported out of the box, will need a EXT3 partition either on the full HDD.
I got this one for 2600/- from flipkart, but the price has fallen since and the last time I checked it was for 2200/- If your local guy sels it for anything less than that, thee go for it.

The latest DD-WRT seems to have removed FAT support, since previously I could just plugin a drive and it would show up, now only EXT drives show up. Did not bother to try a NTFS drive.

Guys I am looking for a 24x7 torrent downloading solution.
I wish to go for RT N13U B1 but I need to be sure that people are using its torrenting option without any hassle.

To be honest, I have hassle-phobia whenever it comes to dabbling with Linux :P . I have an unused Raspberry Pi lying around but I never got around to using it just because configuring it for my torrenting needs might turn around to be quite a hassle.

My original plan was to sell-off the Pi and get a Asus RT N16 for torrents. So if RT N13U B1 can do the same torrent downloading then I'd gladly pick it up coz it costs much less :)

I am using DD-WRT on Asus N13uB1 , and i dont have any issue everything is working fine

Torrent download working using transmission
Http,FTP download working find using pyLoad software
Webserver Ok
Samba & FTP working

And I CAN ACCESS torrent dowload(transmisison,Putty,Webserver,FTP,samba ) FROM internet using DDNS Name :)

@The_Falcon : Will it work if I change my Hard disk to ext3? I am all linux as of now.

I guess yes, bit no 100% sure as I dont have a EXT3 formatted drive. When I connect my NTFS HDD, it does detects the partition along with the size, but is only not able to provide any files/directory listing. I will post a screen a shot of what I mean when I reach home. Hopefully it should give you a more clear understanding.

Yes u can use ext3 partition for ddwrt /opt and /mnt

Not sure about ntfs didn't check, but if needed can test using ntfs pen drive when I get home
