CPU/Mobo Asus Vs MSI ??

asus a8n sli dlx must be 12.5
which should i go for
performance especailly in gaming, also, in 3d apps
stable
oc

asus a8n-e/dlx
msi neo 4 f/platinum

- Performance wise, all of them are the same

- Stability again would be the same

- OC depends on the rest of your components. Both the above boards can achieve 300+ HTT speeds, it depends on whether your CPU can go that high. Both the above boards will not go more than 3V for the vdimm, which means you need to have memory capable of OC'ing with less voltage.

In other words, there's no major difference between the two. So pick whichever one you'd like. Personally, i'd go with the Asus - lower cost and better service network

cost of asus a8n-e and dlx and diff ?

how much and good with this system
amd 3200 winnie,9.5k
xfx 128mb geforce 6600gt pci-e 3yrs box packed,10.5k
2* 512mb ddr 400 corsair cl=2.5 in dual channel

Buddy, read around the forums and you should find all the info you need :)

I recall Aces quoting 8.5K for the A8n-E. I dont think there is a Dlx model of the mobo.

Yes, it would go well with the system stated. However a couple of tips:

- Go for the 3000+ winnie at 7.5K, you save a valuable 2K and there's not much of a diff between the 3000+ and 3200+ (in terms of OC'ing)

- The corsair i'm guessing is corsair value select? If thats the case, your mem might not overclock much, but shouldnt be a worry as you can always use a memory divider.

there is significant diff in performance b/w 3000 and 3200 maybe >8% and i don't want to make that compromise.
also,amd 3000 if isn't stbel beyong 2.-32.4ghz

also,i don't plan to oc my cpu right now

which is better to oc,transcend, corsair, overall which is better?

True there would be a margin of difference between the two but it would be quite minimal, anyway if you have the budget the higher model would be preferred.
When it comes to OC'ing , both the 3000+ and 3200+ are equal. Since you dont plan to OC right now, go ahead with the 3200+

As per RAM, its hard to choose a single "brand" as such. Instead you should be deciding based on the various models offered by each brand. First specify a budget for your RAM and we can suggest something thats good for your budget :)

budget:upto 7k +- for a gig in dual channel

smc international quoted 9.5k today for asus a8n-e dlx or non-dlx it be,

where in delhi can i find asus a8n-e for 8.5k

also, does anybody of you know any bargaining tacktiks.

Mumbai prices are 8.5K i'm assuming, no idea why its so expensive in Delhi?

Bargaining tactics - take a toy gun to the store, aim it at the owner's head and demand your price :ohyeah: (Just kidding, please do no try this!)

No matter what, but this tactic is highly recommended if you have any sort of relation with a politician!  :P

hi people.
I am not gona read through all 4 pages as i am little short on time. But i would like to mention few points about Neo4 and A8n-E and A8n SLI.

Sure Neo2 was great motherboard. Oced like hell.
Same is not the case with Neo4 Platinum and Neo4 F.
The board is limited to only 2.85v Vdimm. This is pathetic if you are enthusiast looking for ocable motherboard in India.
Remember that almost every big site like AT, xbits who are testing these boards have high quality tccd RAM at their dispose. Same is not the case with guys like us here in India. Most of us will have hynix D43 at the best or kingston/transcend which loved extra juice to overclock.
Neo4 cant give any more juice than 2.85v. And if you have D43 then 2.85v is very very limiting.
Asus board on other hand provides nice 3.0v. D43 loved this extra juice. Will crunch out extra 30Mhz or so.
Keep these things in mind.
if you are not overclocker even then A8N-E is solid performer for the given price.

For NF4 range i would advice ASUS range as it has more to offer over MSI.

I dont know what MSI was thinking putting these kind of limitations on Neo4. They reuined the damn board.
They went in wrong direction if you ask me. Neo2 was such a wonderful board.

Dunno what ur talkin funky but the neo2 also had the same 2.85V limitation and would only oc well with TCCD since those voltages are rather low. If you have TCCD, then the neo4 mobos oc equally well.

Hey, but dont TCCDs max out at less than 3V? BH-5s sure love the extra voltage (3.2V+), but I thot TCCDs wud OC fine within, say, 3V. More voltage wud only ruin them n not provide u with any more clocks.

I have the A8N-E n besides being a 'solid performer' it OCes pretty well too. :P

Chaos thanks for pointing out my mistake.

@masky yes thats what i meant. TCCD max out at around 2.9-3.0v.
Over 3v and they will actiually die.
But here we dont get tccd. The ram we get here is mostly transcend, D43 and winbond.
These chips will love 3.0v compared to 2.85v.
Even TCCH from samsung loves 3.0v.
Most geil PC 4000/4400 use TCCH.
Very good overclockers but default voltage for them is 2.9v(for tighter timings, will work with 2.6v too with loose timings for many. but with the sticks i have it wont boot at 2.6v at all. will boot at 2.85v or higher only) which MSI cant provide.
