as per various reviews around the world it's the xonar DG that bests these creative cards hands down , it also has a dedicated headphone amplifiers to drive headphones upto 145 ohms ... go for it mate..in fact I'm also searching for this card ... can anyone here tell me from where I can buy this card .. online shops will do .. and I live in Kolkata ... I also live in Kolkata, so it will be very nice to know from where to buy this cards. Are they not available in Chandi Chowk?

Aren't HD428 ordinary headphones that are just a bit better than the sub-2k cans? I don't think you will notice any difference among those three soundcards and if your motherboard has newer onboard audio chip, you may not be able to find difference between that and the dedicated soundcards.

@ Rishi .. for your budget Asus Xonar DX is the best card ... it will cost Rs. 4-4.5 k ... this card is widely available ... you can go to chandni n search in shops like M.D Computers , Vedant etc.... these shops are very good and they will give you the best price bargain available ... but my friend , my budget is only at most 2k due to some recent big expenditure on other things ...that's why I am looking for a Xonar DG ...

What is the difference between DX & DG.

I am into audio. I want pure 2 channel audio from my computer. Stereo sound to be precise. Which one will be

better?

I am not a movie buff and do not require a 7.1.

My friend has Intel 965RY Motherboard,is this motherboard good enough for Hd428 or will xonar dg or ds improve the audio quality and volume,Xonar DG has Headphone Amp which I guess raises the Output Levels but in addition will it really improve Sound Quality compare to my Onboard???

my friend will go for the above Card only if they are really going to improve the Sound Quality otherwise not .

he is not a gamer at all,he listens to 'Music & Movies'.

Going by reviews the DG seems to be the most VFM entry level soundcard in the market right now . It even has a headphone amp which should handle your HD428 well .

What is the difference between DX & DG.

Off-Topic : Xonar DX vs Xonar DG : better audio processor, higher SNR, lower Total Harmonic Distortion.. Overall its like 6770 vs 6950 @1080p...

Now getting on-topic, Xonar DG is a clear winner...
