Asus Xonar DX help?

I have looking to purchase Asus Xonar DX for my setup of Edifier DA5000 PRO 5.1 system and ATH-M50.
Is the investment worth spending 5k or there will not be any major difference in sound quality? How much difference will i actually hear in percentage as compared to onboard output?

Secondly, i have heard some other drivers(other than asus). Tell me the best driver suitable.
 
The difference in audio quality will be huge. I would suggest you go for DG instead of DX. Its great small card.

Recently Changed to Asus Xonar DG from realtek on-board audio for a cheaper htpc setup, Dedicated Sound card makes a lot of difference, especially for headphones and 5.1 systems. Though the SNR values won't differ much but the SQ difference, even for average listener is huge.
