hi guys i am on a budget around 5k should i go for a 4670 or wait for the new 5670,i can add few bucks in meantime...

Re: ati radeon 4670 worth buying?

If you can wait then definitely the HD5670 considering its a 40nm fab and also DX11 card. but it will take atleast 4 months and would cost 6k~ initially.

Re: ati radeon 4670 worth buying?

If you can wait then definitely 5670. Its slated to be released in january btw, thats not four months.

Expected price should be 89$ USD(my personal guess) and performance is supposed to be about 20-30% better than 4670 along with DX11. I'd hold out for the 5670. Should launch at 6k or so i guess

Re: ati radeon 4670 worth buying?

For around 5k you can easily get a 9600GT which will provide performance within 10% as that expected from 5670.
5670 is not worth waiting for because by the time it is launched its price is likely to be same as 4850 and 5670 is definitely going to be slower than 4850(which matches the performance of 5750).

Re: ati radeon 4670 worth buying?

Does the 9600GT have DX11 or lower power consumption? ;)

But yea good point, you will get higher performance out of a 9800 gt/gtx or 4850. So if performance is your main concern those would be a better bet, you could get used ones for 5k or less i suppose.

Re: ati radeon 4670 worth buying?

9600GT is a DX10 card and is around 4.7k.

9800GT for 5.5k is much better VFM.

Guess Q1 2010 is from Jan-Mar.
Yes they are going to showcase the product in next month NES but realistically going by the availability of the current 5xxx GPU's i guess it will be around feb-mar before they hit the indian shores and are widely availble

The release date is Q1 yes, but its early Q1 not late Q1. its gonna be released at CES which is early jan.

About the availablity part, the only 5xxx GPU's in short supply right now are the 5800 series, the 5700 series are widely available. The 5600 series and the 5500/5300 series being even lower in die size will enjoy even greater availability. Its a very important time for ATI, Intel's new 32 nm processors are also releasing at the same time and im sure they will be ramping up big time to ensure availability of the lower end cards which is where most of the sales are

^^that's just a paper release, isn't it and also, do we know how many models they are going to release? if they are going to launch only the top end model at first, then there is no use in waiting for Fermi.

Get the 4670,it is indeed a good buy.IMO, pls dont wait for anything that's gonna release in the future you may not know what price the 5670 is gonna sell at?

Buy what is available now and be happy with it

guys do not suggest him a 9600Gt he has burnt his fingers with buying a fake 9600Gt.

@raxy wait if you can or if you have some spare cash go for HD4770.

Buy the way is GT240 available in india. How are the specs and pricing?
Shouldnt that be comparable to HD4670?

Err what? Who's talking abt fermi here??

The Radeon 5600 series and 5500/5300 are gonna be a hard launch. And we do know what models they're gonna release, 5670/5650 and 5570/5350.

Well if something better is launching just a little while away its always prudent to wait. Esp if he plans to keep the gpu for a while. Sure you never know exactly whats gonna happen but in this case we do have a fair idea.

hd 4770 will be a good choice too but bear in mind its only dx 10.1 and afaik the price is still 6.5k-7k and upwards.

GT240 does not compare, it loses to the HD 4670 even

I'm also in the same boat. Wait for 5670 or buy the 4670, and i just hope ati will anounce a launch date and maybe price soon. My main concern in power requirement. I want a card that can run without the 6pin connector.

thnx for all the suggestions guys, will wait till jan.But i have a query will 5670 work with a generic 450w psu??

Mate,

Couldn't have sumed it any better!OP Should Wait for 5670 only if his PSU Does not Support 9600 GT.
