I say bruv kick-back relax and go for the HD 6850 if you want decent performance for the price but if you want to hit tweak-town go for the GTX 460 + good PSU and don't look back :), but thats coming from a guy whose fine with a hD 5770 too :rofl:.
 
Assuming that you are buying brand new in India:

Either go for 6850 or 6950/570/6970. No point going for something between a 6850 and 6950. Not as VFM.
 
I wud say go for the GTX 560 or GTX 570. They Oc pretty well and you wont be disappointed with the stock performance either.
 
lol, from the VFM point of view I find the GTX 580, but not everybody can afford it. :P

I would have upgraded perhaps had it been like 10k less, however, now I will go straight to the AMD 7xxx series for performance mainstram/high end in the range of 20k, around 8-12 months down the line
 
^^ Yeah. Even I found it pointless to swicth from HD5850 to HD6000 card. HD7000 it is(again depends if it comes at a good price + if games are demanding enough). actually I'm perfectly happy to put down AA from 4x to 0x and give my card another year at high end gaming then go frenzy and buy a new card.
 
Yeah I'm waiting HD 7*** series like crazy my upgrade path was wonky ATi X700 -- nVidia 9400GT -- ATi HD 5770 -- wait for HD 7*** series.
 
5850 and 6850 ...5850 will be lot better...but b/w 6870 and 5850 6870 is gud ..newer tech,better tesellation and less power consumption :)

ps : 6870 even runs on a vx450 :)
