i want to know which one of these two graphic card will be a better investment for about 3 year. i have been using nvidia 8400 gs on my system and now i want to change it .but i am confuse between these two graphic cards .
also i have to invest in psu so cost would increase of my planned system upgradation.as for now i have mora 450 watt smps.
but now i want to invest in a good graphic card ,so please provide me the information about some good gpu and a decent psu which gives better performance but not cost me much .
my system details-
core 2 duo 7300
19 inch samsung lcd
1.5 tb hard disk
3 gb ddr2 (800) ram
motherboard is asus p5kvm

please help i am desperate need :S:S:S :huh::huh:

5770 is more than enough for a 19 inch monitor. But there are some good deals on gtx 460,which is much more powerfull than a 5770.As for psu a corsair VX450 or cooler master real power 460 is good. They come with a 5 year warranty.

What is your budget? 3 years is a long time..

Please you need to get rid of that "mora" 450W PSU

5770 will run anything for you, the choice of PSU depends on your budget

For PSU:

Gigabyte Superb - 2.2k

VX450 - ~3.7k (I'd recommend you go for this one)

CX400 - ~3k

You can get a 460, but it'll be a waste for now.

What resolution do you play at btw? What kinds of games do you intend to play? Please provide such details while asking for advice..

VX450 + GTX 460 if you're going to upgrade you'er monitor . But it's always best to get the better one when you're going to keep it for 3 years.

get GTX 460 768mb , Point of view ( 10.5k ) / Zotac ( around 11k ) / Msi ( 11.5k ) , if u buying 768mb i think u should go with under 11k one or if u have more budget then get zotac 1gb one for 12.5k . no point putting over 11k in 768mb one .
though u have 19 inch monitor , but more gpu power is always better if price difference is not much :P

psu - Corsair CX400 ( 2.6k ) or VX450 ( 3.6k )

The price of 768MB version has fallen by about $20-30 from $200 to $170. Also the HD5770 is falling to $140 level.

So i would say u better wait for few price cuts if u are tight on budget as the GTS450 is about to release on September 13th.

So wait a month or two if its possible.

If u are in a hurry then get the following,

Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5~9k

Corsair CX400 ~ 2.7k/ Corsair VX450 ~ 3.6k

But whats ur definitive budget?

thanks all of you for your reply .

my budget would be 14k including the cost of psu.

and for monitor i do not like to upgrade it as i am quite comfortable with it now(in reality i have no enough money to buy a new one !)

for gameplay i like to play games like crysis , metro 2033, battlefield bad company , mafia 2, ashes cricket

i would like to play games in 1600 resoluion with all high settings.

if there are some price cuts really after 1 month then i can wait atmost for 1 month.

and please do post the price of gpu and psu from nehru place .

also i have read from somewhere about the GALAXY GTX 460 1 gb GDDR5 ,they are giving this card for 11.5k

So i would like to know from you is this GALAXY good company because i have never heard of it i have read its review from a good site and they were giving it really good ratng in comparision to other gpu

1600 rez you are better of with 1gb card especially for the games you have mentioned, I would really suggest you wait a little more get your budget up by 2k~ so you can get the VX550. It will seem like an expensive option now but a year down the line when you are considering a quad core you can just blindly go for it. Also that 550 will let you run any high end card should you choose to get one later.

i do not want to upgrade this pc anymore after this upgradation.. if i have upgradation in mind then i will opt for complete new system as i can use ddr3 ram in new system..

so give me some suggestion as per my current requirement also i would like to make this gpu working for atleast 3 years..

VX450 is enough for quad core + 460

@OP

If you can wait, then look out for the upcoming gtx 450 which will be out soon.

BTW a 5770 + VX450 will do the job if you have no plans to upgrade your monitor

where is it for 11.5k ? which model is it ? galaxy GTX 460 GC edition is very nice card with good cooling . if its available at 11.5k buy it .

see my previous post , u can get stuff at nehru place at those prices .

ravipawar21- Coming from a 8400GS and looking at your present setup, even a 5770 is a monstrous leap for you.

What motherboard do you have and how long do you plan to keep this rig?

What games are you keen on playing asap?

Galaxy is a pretty good brand ,its all the same nvidia chip anyway, the questions to be asked before the card is purchased are ..

-What is the cost of the Galaxy GTX460 ? Is it the Super OC version ?

-What is the warranty cover on the card ? Do I have to register for additional warranty ?

-Who does the ASS and the RMA Stuff of these guys ?

PS :ASS is probably provided by these guys - T A G - TAG

^^ Don't honestly know about these guys , u'd need to wait for others to comment ..
Also read up the reviews : http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/3405/galaxy_geforce_gtx_460_super_oc_1gb_video_card

Hope I helped :)

-Edit-

The galaxy site says the following RMA terms

A) Warranty for Galaxy Products remains the responsibility of your reseller where you purchased the Product. Please contact the reseller for the RMA services and procedures in the first place.

Sorry sir- I couldn't see some posts when i posted. :S

The games he has listed are so "wow", i am not sure i can fit a better GPU and an equally good PSU in his budget. :ashamed:

Plus he wants to keep it for 3 years?

For now, a GTX460+VX450 will have to do i guess, helped by the fact that he has a C2D. :P

(ideally from me, it's 5770+VX450 or GTX460+VX550)

ravi- Please mention your motherboard and how long will you hang on to this setup till you upgrade the processor and motherboard.

VX450 is more than enough for a GTX 460 , even a CX400 can do with a C2D actually , if u see the power consumption of whole system with a core i7 , it wont be more than 350w if its on stock clocks . so VX450 is good enough even if he overclocks whole system :)

see power consumption of 460 + i7 965 system here GeForce GTX 460 1GB Power Consumption and Thermals | bit-tech.net

even a 470 doesnt make power consumption over 350w .
No No, pegasus has the final word there :P

Although i completely support your views :)

@pegasus yes i know my budget is somewhat low for a gpu and psu

and secondly my motherboard is asus p5kvm and it supports quad core processor maximum but the main drawback of this is that it does not support ddr3 ram....:(...thats why i do not want to make any upgradation in the near future after this gpu and psu...

and after 2 or 3 years i might be buying a new pc.

so i would like to know which gpu and psu i should opt now ...

the gpu should should be good and i should be able to play almost all games with fps greater than 30 average..

and for psu suggest me a psu that just run this graphic card without any hiccups .. and please note that i am not upgrading anything on my this pc after this gpu and psu ..so please mention the sufficient power supply..:|

and this gpu and psu should not make a big hole in my pocket..

and also i request you to please mention me the price of the gpu and psu in nehru place ...
