Seems like a mixed performance as of now.. Nothing exceptional.

Anyhow those who got a 8800GTS before made no mistake as the overall performance between the 8800GTS & the X2900XT is kinda similar.. :)

So let the price wars begin!! :D

Remember, these are DX9 games.

I really think ATi's architecture will shine in DX10 games, I guess well find out soon enough..

DX10 is the buzz word to watch out for :)

with the X2900XT consuming more power...as much as 60W more:S

omg shocking results ... hopefully the new drivers will improve the performance ... glad i went with the 8800gts rather than waiting for these, though the real test would be directx 10

G80 is also DX10, so I'd say both will shine with DX10 games.... let's see how things span out. Hard to believe any reviews until the card actually launches.

I never said the G80 was a DX9 card :P.

I said that the ATi Architecture will shine in DX10. I really think the Unified Shaders will help.

really lets see what amd does in the pricing when it goes head to head with nVidia this time , while on a similar road with intel ....... cheers for us consumers

The way you said it, made it sound like G80 was DX9 lol. Anyway, we don't know which architecture will win yet, so we can't make any assumptions.

RiO... you saw the DX10 initial results... X2900XT was almost 2.5-3x to 88gtx on the DX10 Vista SDK demos.

If that is a estimate of the actual performance :) :P

You seriously can't compare 3dmark benchmarks to actual gaming experience, which is why we buy these cards in the first place :) I have nothing against ATi or R600 because I'd been waiting for R600 since Dec, but finally gave up. Hell, I'd love to see some close competition but ATi hasn't exactly delivered anything they've promised so far, therefore I'll believe when I see real world performance/benchmarks ;)

Btw, some guy on XS accurately describes ATi's annihilation strategy, he said something to the effect of ATi bringing a knife to a gun fight :D

Maybe throwing knives around is enough to wipe out nVidia :P.

Specially if nvidia are using Russian weapons ...

It's nice to make fun of either companies, but end of day we need them to compete so we win and taking sides is kinda silly. And taking sides without even seeing their product... well, go figure :) Like I said, I'd love to see ATi wipe nVIDIA out but it's a long shot considering they're late by 6 months lol.

Oh and this comment on XS is hilarious:

"you know what happens to people who carry knives?!?? they get shot!!"

Well this product is priced similar to GTS. And overall it has better feature set. There are obvious driver issues. Seems to be very rough drivers. Let the new driver set come out and then we will see the real performance.

I hope u guys have not forgotten horrifying days we survived on 8800GTX/S with the initial drivers. Even now some games have huge problems.

It has better hardware acceleration for HD videos compared to 8800 ( hell even 8600 ouperform 8800 in this regard :P )

AA is better on ATI even now.

Just give it 1-2 driver releases and 1 month to see how it shines in DX10 ;)

I have read somwhere that the Sapphire one uses a slightly different HSF design, 3 heat pipes and a slightly bigger fan. May be we will get them here soon. :D Anyways, I woundnt buy a new card untill my current 1900XT show signs of age or the DX10 titles enter the market. :ohyeah:

Edit: The ones on newegg seem to be using the reference design.
