AMD's ATI graphics unit took 51 percent of the standalone, or "discrete," graphics chip market compared to Nvidia's share that was just shy of 49 percent, according to Mercury Research, a Cave Creek, Arizona firm that tracks graphics chip shipments. This is a sharp reversal from the same period a year ago when Nvidia had about 59 percent of the market and AMD had just under 41 percent.

In other news, Apple kicks nVidia out of their iMac and Mac Pro lineup!

Graphics: ATI in, Nvidia out: Nvidia got the boot this time around. That doesn't mean for good necessarily as the history of graphics on the Mac bounces around between ATI (now part of Advanced Micro Devices) and Nvidia. The lower-end 21.5-inch iMac uses the ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics processor (256MB of GDDR3 memory), while the mid-range 21.5 and 27-inch uses Radeon HD 5670 graphics processor (512MB of GDDR3 memory), and the high-end 27-inch packs the ATI Radeon HD 5750 (1GB).

im assuming they count the number of chip ati and nvidia sells their partners... whether their partners manage to sell these chips or not is not in question.

if a new chip is released by ati or nV (new as in terms of branding and not technology ) then it is highly unlikely of the partners to still invest in old one's.

I dont get it ! Never heard of presidents of Online Fan Clubs ! Leave alone Board of Directors.

I have very good contacts with AMD India guys PR included and never heard of anything like that.

Also there were some AMD/ATI events (web/online ones as well as Meet ones) never heard of anything abt ATI India Fan Club. Any official release to this you have with you ?

It was way back in 2005, when we met for X1800XT launch in New Delhi. I don't have the email, as there are too many emails, and it is very hard to find a single where he pointed out that I would be The President of ATI Fan Club India.

Anyways, I shouldn't have even mentioned it :buu: I regret it totally.

I am embarrassed totally.

Anyways, since now it is confirmed by you. We'll soon start something, which will help us to promote ATI products ONLY. Our agenda would be to get all ATI products to all channels available at reasonable price. We would need a website or we can start a thread on TE itself wherein ONLY ATI FANS would join in. However there should not be any fights in regards to NVIDIA Vs. ATI. And our second motive would be to help people who are getting issues with ATI product.

Everything is not cleared yet. But, we'll do something something very soon AND it will be very helpfull for all of us, including ATI as well.
