Call of Juarez is an epic adventure western themed FPS game. The game's plot is located in 19th century Wild West, with the player taking the roles of Billy, a sneaking fugitive, and the reverend Ray, the uncompromising bounty hunter on his trail. Fast paced revolver duels using historically accurate firearms, horseback riding and stealth action in memorable locations set after Western movies. The DirectX 10 Demo Version was used to bechmark both the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT and the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX video cards with the two most recent drivers for each card. The settings for the benchmarking can be seen above!

Any one wondered how poor the the DX10 cards are performing in the DX10 benchmarks. 30 FPS even in the DX9->DX10 patched games is too low. Imagine how are they going to perform in the future titles. It may be that one will need to SLI or Crossfire even for playing at 1680 x 1050/ 1600 x 1200.

As for the R600 vs G80, lets face it, AMD has really disappointed. Even after being 8 months late than G80, they could not make a card which beats atleast the 8800GTS consistently. Ofcourse, it performed well in some benchies, but overall, its not that convincing. And they still don't have an answer for the 8800GTX.

and thinking about it, maybe even if they improve their performance by driver upgrades, they still havnt done their homework well.......what the hell were you AMD guys doin all these 8 months ???

ATI drivers are really out of order for now.

They spend last 6 months fixing hardware issues and driver optimisations took back seat.

But there was a public announcement from ATI the other day that they are working out the problems with their drivers and the new public catalyst suit will fix most issues and not to benchmark the DX10 titles like LOST planet before this set is out as Devs of that game did not send them any info regarding how it is going to use their hardware.

Lets wait and watch. The COJ performance is not bad considering it can match card that is more expensive.

ati card was not a total dissapointment... it did beat the 8800gtx.. and for the price its selling for, i think its a nice deal.

Those numbers look frightening :S

It's weird but I remember getting 60fps (vsync on) playing Call of Juarez @ 1680x1050, and I believe everything was maxed out.

Yes, Even I got some decent FPS numbers with my 1900XT @ 1680 x 1050 wth DX9. I am not sure whether the DX10 patch has slowed down the entire game or is it some issue with the patch itself which needs to be fixed. Either way those numbers are not very reassuring.

I'm not playing favorites or anything here i like both brands but for now looking at the stats and everything Ati is catching up with Nvidia in DX10
but its gona take another year or 2 for Ati to reach that level of DX10

^^ Lol?

I dont think so.

R650 is around the corner. So is R700.

Also, I just have a feeling that ATi's cards are going to be better in DX10, after all DX10 was developed by Microsoft, and MS went the Unified Shader way even in the Xbox360..

ATi is surely going to be back soon!

Sure...even I hv a feeling ATI will dominate DirectX10 with their next release.....
