Graphic Cards ATI X1xxx Series News

LOL.. Seriously.

Thats coz of the CPU bottleneck. If we had a CPU good enough like the Upcoming FX-59, Dual Core 2.6-2.8 Ghz system, whcih MAY be able to reduce the bottleneck to nil.

Two 7800 GTX's with a proccessor which holds its own, will own. Only then will it not be a waste.

Right now, 2 * 7800 or 6800 even, is a Waste!

You have not got my point, what I meant that 2* current generation cards in SLI is more or less gonna be at par minus the tech features of 1* next generation card. So that gives just 1 years supremacy, and considering not more then 2-3 games come out in a year its not a very wise decision.

Also at 1600*1200 8xAA and 16x AF or TSAA, CPU certainly is not the bottleneck.

Thats true. But yet i'd add, Two 6800;s still do surpass 1 7800 GTX.

IMHO, I do feel SLI or Crossfire is a waste, the latter, a complete waste.

Id rather buy 1 card and upgrade every 1 or 1.5 yrs than but 2 and be stuck with it.

Unless i was rich :$ :(.

2 x 6800gt or ultra do not surpass 1 x 7800gt or gtx.
it only gives a bit more fps in 2 or 3 games. rest all its lower.
it is slower than a 7800gt. plus it consumes lots more power & costs more.

in some games which are more dependent of CPU too like HL2 the 780)GTX will perform better. but in graphic intensive games like DOOM3 even 680)GT SLI performs better than 7800GTX.

Same is the story with SCCT where 6800GT/Ultra SLI performs better.

In game slike farcry its almost same.

but yeah given the choice i would go for 1 fast card over 2.

2 cards = more power and heat.

Radeon 1800XT to go faster than 600/1400 MHz

MOST OF our colleagues have already reported that the Radeon X1800XT will be shipped at 600MHz core and 1400MHz memory, but we have to say that we always used 600+ and 1400+ numbers. It turns out that there is aheadroom to clock this chip even faster.

ATI still hasn't made the final decision of the speed of its flagship Radeon X1800 XT card but it will be faster than the anticipated 600MHz core and 1400MHz memory.

Radeon X1600, RV530 XT goes Crossfire

In the next generation, ATI didn't have any choice other than to offer Crossfire at around the $200 mark. That's how Radeon X1600XL Crossfire edition will be fledged. This card will come few weeks after the launch but should be available for Santa Claus to pop something into your stockings.

The target clock speed for these cards is 600MHz core and 1400MHz memory, but they will use a 128 bit wide memory controller. Otherwise such things would end up very close to high end R520 chips.

Some official News about Avivo technology of R520 directly from ATI.

ATI Technologies Avivo includes hardware and software technologies that refine video capture and playback, and improve display quality. According to the developers, computers with Avivo provide more accurate color reproduction than other PCs — they can display 64 times as many colors — and so are essential for anyone editing photos or viewing video. In addition, Avivo makes PC games look better on current displays.

Avivo features:

* Supports hardware MPEG-2 compression, hardware assisted decode of MPEG-2, H.264 and VC-1 video codecs, and advanced display upscaling

* 64 times the number of colors currently available in current PCs; higher color fidelity with 10-bit processing throughout Avivo´s display engine

* Resolutions, such as 2560x1600 or higher, on the latest digital displays using dual-link DVI, as well as high color depth support over DVI

* Advanced up or down resolution scaling on any flat panel display using ATI´s solutions

* Video capture with features like 3D comb filtering, front-end video scaling, and hardware MPEG video compression

* Hardware noise reduction and 12-bit analog-to-digital conversion

* Supports standard TV, HDTV, video input and all PC displays via digital (DVI, HDMI) and analog (VGA, Component, S-Video, composite) ports

Avivo will be an integral component in all of ATI´s upcoming desktop, mobile, chipset, workstation, and software products.

The one that interests me most is Hardware MPEG compression. :)

That problem can be easily overcome by ATI. There is a nice article about it somewhere. I will try to find the link.
Look for it at pennstar systems. Its a non issue on r520 anyway.

lol whats there to doubt? Its technical info and conclusion drawn from technical info of the chip.

And noone knows what chip ends up on production card. I mean they just started building retail cards.

All Rx5xx cards have two dual link transmitters

ATI'S MULTIMEDIA team did great homework with its Rc5xx series. We were expecting something interesting from ATI in terms of multimedia, but we didn’t expect that ATI will have dual link transmitters on the whole product range. Just a few months back, you were supposed to pay some serious money to run your Apple or Dell display at 2560x1600 resolution. ATI now calls its video capability aVivo.

Just to clarify, we learned that the whole series 5 products will have two dual link transmitters. This means that R520, RV530 and RV515 cards can support two displays running at 2560 x 1600 resolutions. I don’t recall that a single card was capable of running two such displays before, and now even the sub $100 Radeon X1300 based on RV515 will be able to power two displays, each running at 2560x1600.

Our sources close to ATI implied that display capabilities of $99 card will beat flagship $499+ Geforce 7800GTX when it comes to resolution support. Ouch, Nvidia really.

The rest

1 word.

Ehaehaehaehaehaehae :P.

There goes large OEM deal out of Nvidia's hand.

Seriously, there is no value Nvidia product even announced. Nvidia ruled the high end market with 7800GT and GTX but ATI will end up earning more by releasing all cards at a time. Specially large OEM business.

Turns out better than what I expected for ATI ;)
