You dont engineer a chip in 3 months. So no its not obvious that its better. it took hard work of years to bring this out.

NV30 was more than 6 months later on release. Was it better?
 
And I tell once again 3dmark 05 scores are not indicative anymore.....

Also while we were at it JBI 7800GT scores 7200 on 3dmark 05, and X1800XL was scoring 7000 on CAT 5.9... ATI is gonna take that segment too.

The oc'ed score will go well over 10k and well over 12k with exotic cooling. These number aren't pulled put of my a$$ though ;). There is a ocing competition going on @ ibiza and macci and sampsa are present there. They have been able to reach 868/1880 !! and they have barely scratched the surface :D with some voltmodding and super cooling this might be the first GPU to cross 1Ghz on core ;)

Though I am not a big fan of benchmarks but 13K... WTH... nVidia better clean those crapped pants and get back to work...
 
@aces my friend just got 7450 on a evga7800gt with 3000 venice at 2.1ghz & 512x 2 corsair. so i assumed around 7500 or 7600 if he takes the venice upto 2.5 - 2.7ghz
 
One thing..Wont reviews from the guys under NDA already be up at Lauch on the card???
