ATI Radeon X1900 GT Leaked

ATI adds another SKU to the X1900 series

According to internal documents, ATI is set to release a single-slot Radeon X1900 GT with 36 pixel shaders. The card is in effect, a cut-down version of the Radeon X1900 XTX and is positioned to go toe-to-toe with NVIDIA's popular GeForce 7900 GT in performance and in price.

CrossFire support can be enabled with an external cable connection to a Radeon X1900 512MB CrossFire Edition graphics card.

According to ATI, support for the X1900 GT will be added in Catalyst driver 6.4 (ver 8.241) -- which ATI expects to release tommorow or the day after.

Since the Radeon X1900 GT is based on the R580 ASIC, there is already talk that an "unlock" might be in the works to convert an X1900 GT into a full blown X1900 XT. Coupled with good heat sink solutions, and ATI's new stance on overclocking, the Radeon X1900 GT might be the next killer card this summer.

Launch & Pricing

Qualification samples of the Radeon X1900 GT are available now with production starting the week of April 14th.

Samples are already apparently shipping to certain vendors and media. The X1900GT will only require a single slot cooling solution, but it is up to the AIB partners to specify the exact cooler desired.

Current GeForce 7900GT cards retail for just over $300. Vendors tell us pricing has not been officially announced, but that every sign seems to indicate that the X1900 GT will show up priced at or below that $300 magic mark.

ATI Xpress 200 Gets a New Name

Manufacturers begin to make the transition from Xpress 200 to Xpress 1600

ATI has quietly changed the name of RD480, Xpress 200, to Xpress 1600.

The change from Xpress 200 to Xpress 1600 was fairly well documented in ATI desktop roadmaps.

Why Xpress 1600 ?

The Xpress 1600 is supposed to correlate to the PCIe lanes between the PEG adaptors. Xpress 3200, previously known as RD580, is ATI's best-of-breed core logic that uses 32 PCIe lanes between the two graphics adaptors.

Xpress 1600 can use the RD480, RD481 or RD482 silicon and still be considered "Xpress 1600." However, it is important to keep in mind that Xpress 1600 is not really a step up from Xpress 200, it is the same chip.

ASUS has already started changing the specifications on some motherboards from Xpress 200 to read Xpress 1600.

Ah finally something to compete with the 7900gt. If it unlocks, 7900gt will be pwned badly at that price point.........

^^ Without unlock-thing also its a good product, how fast? well for that we'll have to wait for sometime. DO you need master card for this to Run in CF???

^ I think so - the x1900 mentioned below must be the Master Card version. Would update if i find more info on this.
CrossFire support can be enabled with an external cable connection to a Radeon X1900 512MB CrossFire Edition graphics card.

Hmm, this card is still just a 12 pixel pipe part. I seriously doubt that it can keep up with the stock 7900 GT let alone the overclocked versions. What happened to the X1900 XL

^^ I beg to differ. If you've read the table above, it reads 36 Pixel Shaders..;)

Correct me if I'm wrong..

What did happen to the x1900xl anyways?

Wasnt that supp to release, to "compete" with the 7900GT. ??

Ur not wrong there, it has 36 pixel shaders, but still only 12 pipes. Like the x1900 XT has 48 pixel shaders and 16 pipes. This card will not be able to keep up with the 7900 GT, IMO this will probably be a competitor to a yet to be released(if it is actually going to be released) 7900 GS.

Ohh ok, thanks a lot for the clarification :D
