ATP3 gone kaput need new one help!

As the title says after 2yrs of abuse my trusty atp3 has gone kaput:'( .

The local repair guy replaced the transformer or something i dont know:ashamed:

now the speaker powers on but when i play the music it makes kinda

bubbling sound:S .The local guy said he knows what to do but told me it would take a couple of days to get it fixed.I called good old rashi they said that the only option for me is to throw it out of my window.Well i dont blame them after all they are RASHI its me who is @ fault how dare i go and ask rashi for after sales service :bangin:.

Ok so what are my options is their any successor of the ATP3 that i should consider.The local guy said their is no other speaker@ 3K that would match ATP3 is that TRUE:huh: . I dont know anything about speakers so guide me guys:sos: :cry: .
 
I too had a blown up transformer problem with my ATP3 . got the coil of transformer replaced and they were back to normal.

I would say try getting it repaired from the local guy if it isnt costing much.

if it doesn't work out ., get the ATP successor -Altec Lansing VS4121.
 
@OP: If you've the older transformer which was replaced, ensure that the one being swapped has the same ratings.

The Altec Lansing VS2421 has replaced the ATP3. Priced at 2.3-4k odd.
 
^^wow that very reassuring thank you:hap2: .But the bad news is the bubbling sound episode happened after replacing the 12v transformerwith another one (it looked small compared to the stock one:S ).He told me to

observe it in my pc as his pc was a p3 one.I told him about the bubbling episode he said he already knew the solution but needed to confirm it:fear: .Also he said another part needs to be changed and he assured me that he would fix it by monday:( .But i very much doubt its gonna be solved:( .

So is Altec Lansing VS4121 the best sub 3K speaker available in the market:huh:. I can stretch the budget a little more only if you guys say its worth the extra bucks:) .Thanks.

Is VS4121 that costs 3K not a replacement for ATP3?

VS2421 @ 2.3K is a lower end model... right?

My bad its the VS4121 and not 2421. Lol @ the numbering system. :P

BTW how much did it fetch?
 
Its better to repair old one,make sure the new transformer has the same ampere rating as the old one otherwise sound fidelity will suffer.

Any good technician can easily repair Speaker/amplifiers systems....its not complex as our gfx cards n motherboards:)

Its the Creative t3030 and its one of ebay's featured deals of the week. If you have an HDFC credit card, you can apply a 15% off coupon and get this for Rs. 2290/- shipped which is a pretty good deal I suppose.

However I'm not sure of the performance of these as compared to the ATP3. Perhaps someone here can give you a comparative idea of these 2.

Edit: Also it seems the warranty is only 6 months and that too dealers warranty. But it seems a pretty good product nonetheless.
 
The thing is you shouldve avoided getting a new transformer. instead you couldve just recoiled the old transformer ,if it was possible.

i am saying this,cause when my transformer had blown up,the local repair guy suggested getting it recoiled as the transformers available in the local market are not of good build and quality as the one used by Altec Lansing.:).
 
^^Thanks for all the advice guys:hap2: .What i should have done is post the thing here before i took it to the local repair guy:( .The transformer is with the repair guy.I will ask him to return it on monday.nope he didnt rewind the coil just replaced another small one.

I am going for the new atp3 =>VS4212 CAUSE MY CURRENT ATP3 HAS FALLEN innumerable no. of times infact i have to use lot of glue and tapes to make it look like a speaker:ashamed: .yet it never missed a beat:O.ATP3 is pretty much indestructible i would say :ohyeah:
 
Ok i just came from chennai ritchie street a shop quoted VS4121 @Rs3200:O
but i managed to bring the price down to Rs2750:) .Is that a good price
or should i bargain for more:huh: .
 
If the old one works , stick to it. speakers are fairly simple things. the repair guy should be able to make the electronics work as good as new ( not so sure about the speakers and controls :p)

PS: I too would suggest getting the transformer rewound. A cheap transformer can add hum
 
^^Ok mate i will give him one more chance.If he f#@*s it one more time then thats it:bleh: The audio sounds ok @ very low volume if their was any kind of bass it starts to cough.This is after replacing the transformer i wil ask him to rewind the OE one tomorrow hope it al goes well:hap2:
