Hey guys,

Just came across through the site of Railwire(Enterprise of Railtel, a government initiative) and was stumbled upon the great plans on broadband they offer.

Railwire - Tariffs & Plans

Is anybody over here using their service? Why is it still not popular?

Sorry if it is already posted!

So if it is available only in Bangalore, have any bangloreans experienced their service? Is it available atleast in Mysore?

As others pointed out, currently Railwire is only available for seletced areas of in and around Banaglore.

(It will great to have 1 Mbps connection for 1200 without FUP)

They are only in few areas of Bangalore, Wonder why are they not expanding :(

Someone write letter to Mamta Baneerjee atleast she will know there is something like this going on & it can earn Railways lots of profit :P

for those who dont know railwire operates thru fiberoptic netwrk direct to home no modem nothing..unlike oder ISPs which have last mile copper connectivity......it wud take ages to dig up the land and lay fibr optic lines all over india...dats why railwire's connection is so limited...though they seem to mail all prospective customers the so-called "pan india plans this year"...dey havnt done nething for d last 2 yrs... :@

I called them to ask about Delhi availabilty, they said, surrent plans are there andd some work is going on.

Dear Mr. Shah,

Warm Greetings from RailWire!

This is w.r.t.your recent online enquiry with RailWire (appended below).

We are glad to receive your enquiry.

Coimbatore will come under our pan-India rollout plans. From the customer care desk, we don’t have good visibility into the exact dates/timelines. However, you could expect us to reach coimbatore towards the latter half of year 09.

With warm regards,

Team - RailWire Operations

Did anyone notice
*Port speeds are on 1:4 contention ratio
??!!

means the rated speed is 4times the actual promised speed during peak usage..

you will get UPTO that speed if there is enough Bandwidth to spare on their side

they can downgrade your bandwidth when there is not enough... (to upto its 1/4th )
