It is relevant to the thread because ,instead of fixing the things which are lying around, why do u want to implement new stuff.

Oh gee.
Why dont the staff create a sub forum just for the self appointed eleetists/senior members. So that no one disturbs their old age home. And they dont disturb others. They can relax and talk abt the good old days when they were running around trolling in forums.
Whenever some old members wants to get a moot point across they just drop the word "senior". Makes others feel weird.

I think auction is a bad idea for TE unless one can get the same credibility as ebay.
Auction have no place in the forum since then you will have to redesign your website.
You will have to include flash like template where auction items need to placed on top.
Maybe a new venture like auctions.te.com

I do not understand why bringing in auction system will stop members from low balling?
For instance no one will actually list their item for the low base price, they will always try to sell it for as max as possible (nothing wrong in that I must add). So as usual all buyers will try to low ball and not bid for it. So eventually he'll have to reduce the rate and put product on auction again with a bit reduced prices. Same old story continues.
In member section, let the member decide. They are still free to PM a member that they want to buy it on a higher rate anyways.(You may want to modify your rules that once a member confirm to buy; seller is allowed to wait for next 24 hours to get better offer. But I am quite sure all it will do is to delay the shipping by one day)
BTW Isn't TE market was created to offload extra stuff we have purchased and is lying idle?? Its not a selling platform, we have dealer section for that, isn't it.

This funda of multiple id's can be simply avoided by keeping a restriction of minimum no of posts. A number not too small to be reached by spamming and and not too big as well 
. No that I am totally in support of the bidding system , but just thought of posting the possible options .

I still feel that the Auction System can be introduced safely... It can be optional. Those who want to use it can, others, just do it old skool way...
In case there are no takers for the Auction Scheme after a few days of implementation, it can be brought down... Is that so difficult??
As for TE becoming a Marketplace, it already is like a marketplace (somewhat) if it has a Market Section. There are 'n' number of people who come here only for the market.
It eventually so happens that the market lovers start loving the community and become regular and active members in other sections.
Those who don't want TE to be a Marketplace, should ask for the removal of the TE Market entirely!!! :|

Renegade am not for this idea, but i am certainly not against it. But you HAVE to give us a choice which type of a market deal we want to have, whether a normal deal or an auction (just like IVG), and if you implement it as auction only it'd be the most stupid thing that has ever happened.
And for another thing, nowdays i am seeing many things relating to "senior members" and stuff. Makes no sense. Being a Senior member is relative. A Person might be 15 years old and have 10,000 posts. Does that make him senior? A very knowledgeable person who has just registered at the forums, and lets say he has 10 posts, just how in the hell is he any less senior to the 10,000 post Fifteen year old guy. Seniority on tech forums do NOT exist as tech lovers have no age, just a hobby/liking/nerdness. And you certainly should not get Senior member benefits.
Even if you are an Admin or a Mod the only thing you are supposed to do is to make sure the "rules" are supposedly followed and nothing else as far as I think. Too much Admin Bullying these days.
