PC Peripherals Audio Output problem

hey all,
my motherboard's audio out port (both front and back) are not working.
i had installed an enter PCI sound card but it is also giving problems now.. Static noise in speakers when any sound is played..
should i get the usb sound cards or attach another PCI one?
i have heard that the usb one's dont work..
 
have you installed the proper drives and connected the front audio panal in the proper audio port on the mobo?
Whats your mobo?
Have you tested it using a linux live CD??
 
dont hav the linux live cd..

i took out the sound card and put it in another PCI slot..it worked..thanks for your help though :)
