Hi All;
I am looking for a downloader that can download files one at a time.Like when there are archives with many parts, its tedious to do things one after other. And single thread too.

If I give it a list of files(url),it should download first one and when it's done, goes to second one and so on.
Is there any freeware which can do that?

Regards

Most download managers should do that, try Free DL Manager
Code:
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/
After installing, go to options>download options>network tab>

Here set the max number of running downloads to 1, should do the job......

PS: This will not work with downloading from Rapidshare and sites like it unless you have a premium account.

you can do that with any normal download manager as long as the url\server \site your downloading from supports a download manager...

i would say try flashget and in the settings..select

max simultaneous jobs = 1

and then add rest of the download links...in flashget and click on start all..

so 1 file will be downloaded at a time..and the rest will be queued..

note : this works only if the download source supports download managers.

mostly wont work for free rapidshare\mega upload and other file

hosting sevices .

also in flashget you can manually select the no. of parts in which fileis downloaded from 1-10...(again depending if the source supports more than 1 or 5 ). this splitting helps in faster downloads...

try flashget ..ive found it to be very easy to use..and most effective..in download speeds..too.

similarly for IDM.....jus in options set max no of simultaneous downloads to 1 then list all ur downloads...
set to shutdown ur pc wen all downloads are finished too

Tried Flashget before IDM.It always went on with first 2 and rest were showing 5kb file.

Then tried IDM,work's very well.

Thanks for this good tool.

Flashget Classic > Free Download Manager = IDM > DownloadThemAll.

Even though Flashget Classic does not have those many options, sometimes when downloading at very high speeds with multiple mirrors; FDM and IDM corrupt my downloads.

Newer versions of FlashGet (after 1.73) are so buggy that you are better off with FDM.

btw, IDM is shareware. :P

A question of FDM user,in the place where I work they have a 'Automatic configuration script'.But the FDM can only take proxy and password. Is there a work around?

Thanks

+1 for IDM :)

Was using Flasget 2 yrs back.. But just tried IDM for experimenting and using it since then ;)

i also find orbit better to use with the speed scheduler and all, but find the speeds to be pretty erratic sometimes.. so i keep shifting between that and IDM..thats where flashgOt helps :)

To IDM users,
In the network that I use,to go out form lan to internet,we have to enter a configuration script in IE in tools->Internet options->connections->lan settings-> the format http://xx-xx.com.It then asks for password to access Internet.
I tried to set this in IDM and there seems to be no way to put this in and so IDM can't access internet.IDM asks for a proxy and port, but not a script.I tried entering the script server as proxy and port 80.But still dsnt work.Is there a way to enter this script to IDM?

Thanks
